Upgrading PS4 HDD
Hi guys I need some help and advice. I really need to upgrade my hardrive I have the 500g PS4 and now I'm having to delete old games in order to play new ones 😥. I have been looking at hard drives online but I just don't know how to put it in myself as I'm worried I might mess up my PS4. So would I be able to use a portable hardive for now until I get someone to install one for me? And does anyone know if any shops that fit hardrives for my PS4.

No you can not use external HDD's on your Ps4. Installing the HDD is really easy you will not mess up your PS4.

Wouldn't that void your warranty?
https://support.us.playstation.com/a...grade-PS4-HDD/ I've changed the HDD in my original PS4 and my Pro (increased to 2TB) and changed them for 2 of my friends as well with no issues. |

The slot is underneath rather than at the side like on the PS3 and they just unplug and unclip, I imagine a USB backup of your data and game saves might also be needed to go with it, but it'll restore the system OS from onboard memory as it used to do with the older PS3's. The PS4 is upgradeable to 4 TB, the PS3 1 TB.

Firstly, the location of the HDD depends very much on which model of PS4 you have. It doesn't "just unplug and unclip", you'll need a screwdriver. You can back up to USB devices, but equally you can redownload games and saves* from the cloud (*if you have PS+) And you need to get the system OS from the PlayStation website and install it to the PS4 using a USB stick. All of this is detailed in the link I provided. P.S. - if you're going to tell people PS4 is upgradable to 4TB, please have the common decency to explain this is only currently possible using hugely expensive SSDs or external add-ons to save them the trouble of a wild goose chase. |

So much wrong in a single post.

As for the 4 TB, it seems fairly obvious that that was always going to be expensive anyway, so that is also self explanatory also, put in a 2 TB I'm sure that'll do. These hugely expensive SSD's may eventually come down in price, I put in a 240 GB one temporarily in my PS3, they work fine in there. |
