08 = AJ Pritchard = 889pts
Next up at the halfway mark is newcomer AJ who I think considering the flack he seemed to be getting at the beginning of the series has done well to rank so highly. He joined Strictly this year and partnered Claudia to 4th place in the competition. There was talk at the start that he'd he another Jared Murillo; however I think his choreography was great considering some of the music choices and also have to accommodate Claudia's height too. He also had an enthusiasm that he was loving being on the show which was great too and seemed to embrace everything the show had to offer. There are still naysayers saying he is too young, or oddly showboated over Claudia... personally I thought (as with all the new pros this year) that he was a great addition and I hope he returns next year too. |

07 = Pasha Kovalev = 961pts
Next up is Pasha, who I think would've been top 3 a few years ago however due to a couple of years of not so brilliant partners, I think its dented Pasha's popularity slightly. In his first two years on the show, Pasha managed to get to the finals and finished in the runner-up slot, however it was his 4th attempt on the show with Caroline Flack which saw him clinch the coveted glitter ball. The last couple of years though has seen Pasha get some less able partners which I don't think has helped him able to produce the best choreography. I'm sure if he is back next year and with a partner who has some more ability and/ or more of a rapport then I've no doubt that Pasha will shoot up the Pro rankings. |

06 = Oksana Platero = 1039pts
Just outside the top 5 is new pro Oksana who debuted on the show this year partnering Judge Rinder all the way to 5th place. I think her partnership with Robert took everyone by surprise with their first dance showing that he had ability. They became quick favourites and whilst he had ability, it was never going to challenge the front runners and alongside Ed gave a lot of personality and performance. Oksana had some good choreography and despite the hap-hazard Flinstone Charleston, she did give Robert some good ballroom and latin dances. I hope she comes back next year to see what else she has up her sleeve. |

AJ and Chloe are the future of the show as we are now edging closer and closer to the 20s if this show is to turn over from the pros who joined us in the early years will eventually one by one exit. I was impressed with AJ and hope more pros my age join the show. It is people like them who are the Brendans, Natalies, Pashas and Joannes of the future.

05 = Gorka Marquez = 1130pts
So nearly 100pts clear of sixth place and kicking off the top 5 is Gorka... the Corka. I think Gorka got a slight raw deal with the early elimination of Tameka, however had almost instant popularity. That popularity then seemed to sky-rocket when he stood in for Brendan and seemed to give Anastasia and new confidence and by far her best routine of the series. Hopefully Gorka does return to the show and be able to demonstrate more of what he can do, however I guess it goes to show the impression he made for a new pro to be 5th out of 15 after being eliminated 2nd from their first series. |

04 = Natalie Lowe = 1158pts
In 4th place just missing out of the top 3 (well by 48pts) is Natalie. Natalie joined Strictly in 2009 and in her debut year got her best result when she partnered Ricky Whittle into 2nd place. Since then her next best result was the following year where she finished in 4th place with Scott Maslan. After that things got rocky and has never finished higher than 7th. However in that space she had a year out due to injury and a couple of duffers. This year she partnered Greg... and I did think at one point that they could win and have a 'journey' however it wasn't meant to be as they were eliminated at Blackpool. It feels odd that Natalie has never won and she seems to put a lot into the show/ the choreography, I actually think she is one of the better teaches and seems to be able to adapt the content depending on the celebs weaknesses/ strengths which not all the pros seem to do. |

03 = Katya Jones = 1206pts
Taking the bronze medal for 2016 is Katya and is the highest of all the new pros this year. She actually finished more than 100pts behind 2nd place so the top 2 really did runaway with votes. Katya debuted this year and partnered Ed Balls; the choreography and indeed the partnership was so much more than I think anyone thought it would be; especially after the week 1 dance. However Ed found character, he actually had some form of rhythm and completely threw himself into the experience. It also helped that Katya didn't go down the easy route of just comedy, however actually did teach Ed steps to fit in with each dance week on week. I thought she handled the whole of her first series incredibly well and I can't wait to see what she can do with someone with natural flare/ ability. |

So before revealing the winner; just a huge thanks to all the voters and as this seemed to be a big enough hit, it should return next year

02 = Aljaz Skorjanec = 1309pts
Taking the silver medal this year and sitting in the runner-up spot in Aljaz who finishes more than 100pts ahead of 3rd place, however 50pts behind the winner. Aljaz debuted on Strictly in Series 11 whereupon he took Abbey Clancy to victory. Since then he has partnered Allison Hammond, Helen George and this year finished in 8th place with Daisy Lowe. I think Aljaz is a great choreographer on the show and manages to do things in an interesting and sometimes unusual way. I believe he is probably the soul reason that Janette is still on the show and Aljaz does have excellent teaching skills and it's always good to see what he is going to do on a week by week basis. |

01 = Oti Mabuse = 1359pts
Which means your winner this year is Oti who stormed a victory and finishes 50pts clear of 2nd place. In her first year, she partnered Anthony Ogogo who actually had an injury and they became the second couple eliminated. This year her luck was in as she partnered Danny Mac, who enabled her to show of what an incredible choreographer she is and I think week on week her routines were amazing. The way she interpreted the dances particularly that Samba and the way she styled the dances showed just how much she had to offer. In some respects given her level of consistently brilliant routines that her and Danny had each week, that they did deserve to win (although personally I was in the Claudia/AJ camp). Despite lots of 10's in the run up the final, Danny and Oti finished in the runner-up slot. Oti meanwhile claims a victory here and is DS' Favourite Pro for 2016!!!! |

You know I hope Aljaz gets someone like Allison Hammond next year, I actually liked him best with her. That's despite loving Daisy as a person but sadly I don't think she improved much as a dancer. I do think of all the male pro's Aljaz is always happy who he gets and always makes it a positive experience for his celeb.

Thank you for all your work with this poll - especially at such a busy time. I enjoy reading your summaries and thought that your write-up of Giovanni's year was very balanced.
I am in the camp that thinks that Gio's choreography was working around Laura's injury, but a little bit more subtlety next year wouldn't go amiss. ![]() |

Thank yohinnchild for doing this list and not just revealing the results, but adding a great résumé for each pro.
![]() And I am very pleased, that my favourite, Oti, has won. Loved her choreography and her partnership with Danny. |
