Welcome, welcome, one and all to the final episode thread of the year! So technically we can class today as New Year's Eve, right?!

What new year's resolutions would you give the Albert Square residents?

- Perhaps Kathy should cut down on the drinking and definitely take part in Dry January?
- Maybe Johnny should join a club and become more sociable on the Square (and gain some more screen time in the process?!)
- Could Jack aim to become a nicer person?!

Please leave your ideas below

I am loving the show now - the last couple of weeks, in my opinion, have been brilliant. That may have something to do with a certain Max Branning returning (Jake is the best actor on the show in my opinion), but I'm also liking Lee's storyline (if I forgot the robbery aspect), Stacey and Martin's relationship, and the nearing conclusion of Roxy and Ronnie's arc.

Enough of my opinions though, here is what is coming up on tonight's episode:

Spoiler
Lee finally reaches breaking point as the events of the past few months catch up with him.

As the guilt and consequences of his actions becomes too much, Lee is left wrongly believing his family would be better off without him and he contemplates suicide.

Meanwhile, Max's return is continuing to cause tensions on the Square, with Martin among those who aren't happy to see him.

Elsewhere, a high Roxy tries to grab Shrimpy's attention when she spots him dancing with Donna at the party.

Cast:

Spoiler
Roxy Mitchell - Rita Simons
Phil Mitchell - Steve McFadden
Sharon Mitchell - Letitia Dean
Lee Carter - Danny-Boy Hatchard
Whitney Carter - Shona McGarty
Mick Carter - Danny Dyer
Johnny Carter - Ted Reilly
Tina Carter - Luisa Bradshaw-White
Max Branning - Jake Wood
Lauren Branning - Jacqueline Jossa
Steven Beale - Aaron Sidwell
Ian Beale - Adam Woodyatt
Kathy Beale - Gillian Taylforth
Martin Fowler - James Bye
Stacey Fowler - Lacey Turner
Kush Kazemi - Davood Ghadami
Carmel Kazemi - Bonnie Langford
Donna Yates - Lisa Hammond
Shrimpy - Ben Champniss
Karen Beckworth - Sally Rogers

Behind the Scenes:

Spoiler
Executive Producer - Sean O'Connor
Director - Toby Frow
Writer - Lauren Klee

Due to the subject matter in tonight's episode, I have copied what DS have put at the bottom of their episode guide page:

We would encourage any viewers or readers who have been touched by Lee's story to get in touch with Samaritans, who can listen and offer confidential support.

You can call Samaritans free of charge on 116123, email jo@samaritans.org or find the details for your local branch at www.samaritans.org. Calls to Samaritans' helpline do not show up on phone bills.

Happy New Year everyone

Cheers Sez! The final episode of 2016.

Tonight will be a tough watch. No ‘Rack’ is a bonus.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all!

I hope all the residents make a new year's resolution to stop treating Dot as though she is a bit simple: they don't bother to show up knowing she wanted to mark her last day with a fish paste sandwich and then decide she needs a washing machine without consulting her first, maybe she was looking forward to trips out to the alternative launderette - change of scene chance to meet new people etc

As for Abbie, the resident animal expert, she whipped away that cat to be scanned before it had had a chance to finish it's sardines leaving Dot looking rather bewildered, did she ask Dot if she wanted the cat to be whisked away in a cardboard box? and although resident animal expert abbie at least brought it back in a proper carrier she could have at least also brought some decent food, litter, bed etc, Dot will never be able to have sardines on toast ever again if someone doesn't offer to take her to petsupermarket to stock up!

and yes I am a mad cat lady so I will be watching Dot's pussy Ethel's willie with close attention!

They still have time to cram in one last 'Roxy needs a man' storyline before she pegs it on Sunday.

I am sure Ronnie could fit in one more accidental death before she goes

adore cats too - so lovely having a puss around. we all know we can't boss cats around, so do you think they chose a black cat - well, several black cats - so they use different ones - and they all look the same to us - just like they usually use twins for small kids ? actually, once up in Borehamwood I saw both Oscar (Branning) walking out and later return with their minders or mum + minder - both in identical clothes.

I think you could be right about the black cat, I hope he (they) feature often, we never see Carmel's Craig anymore I also hope he has a long and happy life - I am still traumatised over Boots

Thanks Sez x

Can Louise resolve to make up her mind as to whether she's 12 or 40.
Can Bex decide life might be more fun if she dumps Shakil.
Can Shirley find her sarky bitch again....nice doesn't suit her.
And can Ben and Jay resolve to move out and stop being controlled by Phil.

Nice one Sez. Hopefully 2017 is a better year for Eastenders than 2016, 2 terrible producers doing their absolute best to run it into the ground.

Afternoon all, cheers for the thread Sez.

2017 resolutions hmm

Kathy needs to aim to return to her grave
Jane needs to give herself up to the police and do her time
Donna should try and become a nicer and better person or find a new market to work in
Martin and Kush should try and fix their bromance a bit more and spend more time together
Whitney needs a life coach and to get her act together

Forgot one - Max needs to reassess his life and realise that getting revenge put him in the situation he is in, he should give it up as a bad job and move on positively

Lauren's resolution should be to fulfil her lust for attractive and charming soap forum members with hyphenated initials for usernames.

Lauren is clearly satisfied with her life as a beard. She doesn't even make the same level of effort dress, makeup and hairwise which signals she is comfortable in. Her situation

Thanks for the great thread

Resolutions:

Stacey should stop acting like she hasn't a clue why Martin has a difficulty with her being so close to Max.
Sharon should stop re-writing history when it comes to her past with both Grant and Phil. Likewise Kathy with Pete.
Max should attack Ian where it hurts most - his pocket.
Shirley should finally get over Phil and meet someone who treats her right. If they can't do that then give her a new best friend a la Hev.
Returns should include Peter, Lola, Cindy and David Wicks.

Happy 2017 everybody

Beale can't come back, Colls. Not where he's gone. I've made sure of it. Cindy and Lola would be very welcome though

Sorry J-B forgot that would discommode you

As long as I can see David Wicks strut around the Square once more I'll leave Peter off the list for you

I would also like to see David back, but not sure how he would work without Carol or Bianca. I have no desire to see Bianca back, Carol would be OK.
