Surely he knows some holds and throws that would terrify and subdue Oz without physically damaging him? Lee is acting like a terrified boy who has never had any self defence training, let alone army training.

Because he is suffering from severe depression

First of all: Lee has depression. It's a debilitating disease and sometimes sufferers often aren't able to respond when they are being bullied. Also, bear in mind that Lee's time in the army may have contributed to his depression.

The naivety on this forum sometimes...

He is suffering from severe clinical depression.

Little shits like Oz always get away with targeting and bullying such vulnerable blokes because they know (even though their victims could easily knock them out) they will never fight back.

Homo sapiens is a brutal species.

I know from personal experience that depressed people can be violent and aggressive. I'd love to see Lee just punch Oz.

So would I.

I would like to see Lee to kick the living shit out of him - as a trained killer he would be quite capable of it.

But as SOC seems to be going realistic (apart from the preposterous King Weeble) such justice never happens in real life.

That is the way it is - decent people go to the wall - and they fail and die.

I feel like the pressure will build up on Lee and whilst stressed he will end up hitting Whitney (like the ticket woman) and apologise quickly before Whitney tells him to get out, to which he never comes back.

I hope he snaps soon and does something to Oz. Almost did last night!

Lee is what is commonly known as 'a big girls blouse'.

He's not though, he's an Afghan vet, and I think it's all leading up to him doing Oz some serious damage. His temper is already getting the better of him ... he terrified that parking attendant.

I assume because he's lost all of his mental strength which is what happens when you are struggling for too long without the right help.

I was bullied at work years ago - which led to depression for a time, it wasn't already there unlike Lee. What I had to put up with wasn't a patch on Lee, but it battered my confidence to nothing. Usually I'm a gobby cow.

Maybe he will go full on 'Rambo' on them all.

He's not a drip, his depression has made him seem weak and defenceless. Years ago, when he returned on leave from the army, he was a tough, charismatic, confident character.

He's killed men and that training will still be there. He's being pushed to the brink by Oz. Perhaps he'll snap and murder him by mistake, ending up inside for a good stretch so the character can still return to the Square.

and there lies one of the issues.

Men are expected to be strong and not show emotion, no wonder you end up with violent brutes!

Because depression is as disabling as any other major illness or injury. Just because you can't see it it doesn't mean it's not a crippling illness.

His smothered scream in the car captured perfectly the claustrobia, frustration and isolation of depression and was superbly done.

His loss of temper with the parking attendant might have been there to foreshadow a loss of control with one of the work bullies. I can just see Lee losing it and slamming Oz's head against a wall over and over.

He was a soft pussy even when he was in the army and without depression. Don't think that everyone who has been in the army is a psychotic nutter like Michael from I'm Alan Partridge. Lee hasn't really ever been the sharpest knife in the drawer and isn't violent by nature so leaves him exposed to lairy gits like Oz.

This, I had little sympathy for him after the stealing he's stooped to, but it's been clear post-army that he has a temper. Lee had got a handle on it I felt until he was diagnosed; it's slipping back into his daily routine [see him snapping at Whitney in almost every scene for weeks, and almost hitting that ticket lady yesterday].

Lee's just been ground down so much [something I know all too well] that he's just taking it and doesn't have the willpower or energy to stand up to such.

Unfortunately I feel he will react very violently [after being highly emotionally pleading] to the person he next meets, be it Whitney, Oz, or even his parents...

Some of these comments are infuriating me!

My partner is serving military right now. He is also clinically depressed. There was a time when I first met him that he was sarcastic and "laddish". But as things progress he would rather be with me and his family, "the only people who get it". He is scared to talk to colleagues or superiors. The med centre have waved him away saying its all down to a hard job. He no longer stands up for himself. He just takes it. He then comes home and cries because "i cant do this anymore. it's all too much now". 6 months ago he opened up to someone he thought was a mate only to be told, "Man up you p***y". The mate thought he was just having a laugh but these comments get to him. Now he is beginning to open to me he is becoming the person he used to be a little bit more.

People are not wimps, or "a girls blouse" because they cry and cant stand up for themselves.

I myself, tried to kill myself 6 years ago. And this year is the first year I have gone without any form of self harm. I hope none of you encounter this horrible illness. I really do! No one deserves it

Thing is he lets Oz bother him, if he ignored him Oz would look a fool and give up eventually

Oz is looking the ex army man right now

I agree. He was a drip long before he went into the army. In fact I'm surprised he ever got in. Usually it's the making of a man, but not in Lee's case. His parents haven't helped matters by coddling him all his life. I can't see how/why Whitney is so oblivious to it all. In fact, they are all oblivious to whats going on around them.
