it`s a horribly busy piece of road.

I hope it is not driver error and he simply didn't just drive off the road / inappropriate speed.

If it is black ice, why weren't the gritters out and about?

The 'happy' outcome was very fortuitous.

I only comment on the weather not this particular traffic incident.

For someone whose driving is huge part of their working life, I'm constantly amazed how many drivers do not adjust their driving to varying weather conditions.

For many it's me myself and I behind that wheel.
