Pirate BBC Essex 2017
I thought you would be very interested to hear that Steve Scruton has just announced, during his show on BBC Essex this afternoon, that Pirate BBC Essex will be returning in 2017! Excellent news!
If you want to hear Steve’s announcement yourselves it was made at approximately 2.18pm, once this afternoon’s show becomes available on BBC iPlayer. His show commenced at 12.00pm. I think I’m looking forward to August 2017! Wishing you all a Very Happy New Year for 2017! |

Well, this is excellent news but very sadly there will not be Dave Cash involved this time. Hopefully there will be Johnnie Walker, Tony Blackburn, The Emperor Rosko as well as Paul Burnett who has not been on radio for sometime.

Pirate BBC Essex will have some interest from listeners outside the county especially if national names like Tony Blackburn and Johnnie Walker are on board.
Pirate BBC Essex could be carried nationally as a pop up service on the BBC National DAB Multiplex. Also Pirate BBC Essex could be carried on BBC Local Radio instead of Georgey Spanswick between 19.00 - 22.00 and overnights on BBC Local Radio instead of BBC Radio 5 Live. |

It'b be like LEAVE winning the referendum or Trump winning the US Presidency ! Then again, given those two shock results perhaps it's time for a resurgence of the revolution that shocked the BBC in the 1960s. If the BBC were to take the risk, who knows, It could be the start of something very different and really big ! Let's campaign for putting Pirate BBC Essex on Local Radio and replacing 5 Live. It is the perhaps the final chance we'll get after all ! |

Let's hope that as this is probably the last time that they will finally put Pirate BBC Essex on DAB, or preferably stereo DAB+. It was utterly ridiculous confining it to medium wave while simulcasting the normal programming on FM and DAB.
It would also be a good idea to weed out all those dire re-recordings that have plagued these programmes without the presenters even appearing to notice. |

It probably be the last year for local radio on MW.
National pop up DAB will be good. Presume it will be from the LV18 as it now shows a radio event in July/August http://www.lv18.org/events.htm (Unless it's Radio Mi Amigo again?) |

Yes see now its 2015.
But Radio Mi Amigo yesterday updated facebook they will be back in 2017 so unless say Pirate BBC Radio Essex use the Ross Revenge (possible now its moored in Essex) 2 radio groups will potentially be using the LV18? BBC Essex said back in 2014 they had no money for the pirate broadcasts and money is still tight so hopefully they can get some funds to make a quality opt out week of programmes for 2017. Hopefully Caroline will get a full licence and new land based mast sorted later in 2017? |

Fairly sure it will be around 14th August, and the LV18 in Harwich is the likely location.

On BBC Essex this morning well-known anorak and ex-Caroline DJ, Ray Clarke, was talking about the pirates now on his Bank Holiday show with guest John Myer (owner of the website www.offshoreradio.co.uk). John was talking about how the pirates changed the radio landscape after they closed down.
Ray didn't definitely say that Pirate BBC Essex would be returning this year, but he did imply it by saying, "Who knows?" The 15-minute item began at 11:20am on his 9am- 12 noon show today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p008c09t |
