London will remain world’s 'leading financial centre', says senior City figure

As most sane people realise, the City is going nowhere. Only the most Swivel eyed remainers and Brexiteers would think otherwise.

Quote:
“London will remain the world’s leading financial centre in spite of Brexit, a senior City figure said today as Google vowed to continue to invest in the UK after it leaves the EU.

Mark Boleat, policy chairman of the City of London Corporation, said while there was "nervousness" about Brexit, he had "no doubt" that London will remain "the world's leading financial centre".

It came as Matt Brittin, the head of Google's business and operations in Europe, said his company would continue to invest in Britain because it is "good at the internet".”

Google? Really? Is Google a leading financial company now?

Google has registered offices all around the world, including plenty in Europe
https://www.google.com/about/company/facts/locations/

It doesn't need the UK as a gateway to Europe like many other international companies & financial institutions.

There's no reason why Google would stop investing in a country with millions of internet users.

Anyway, we will have to wait and see what happens with regards to the free movement of services, capital & banking passport between EU<==>UK - which we stand to lose if we leave the EU / EEA / Single Market....
It's all just speculation until then...

Would you honestly expect him to say anything else? By the time the excrement hits the fan he'll be long gone.

Your capacity for rational thought has left the building.

"Mark Boleat, policy chairman of the City of London Corporation, said"

If you think it's "swivel eyed" to be slightly suspicious of such an obvious cheerleader you really do have problems,

Well I would say the people who look out for the banks and financial system within london should know whether Brexit will lead to the demise of London or not.

Perhaps we should listen to unnamed sources from the Guardian instead

Perhaps you should wonder what else the policy chairman of the City of London Corporation could say.

London is seen as the safest place in the world to do business for reasons of us having a stable government which does not suffer the same problems with corruption found elsewhere. The EU's shares transaction tax would have done us great harm but this can now be avoided, Brexit will keep us safe from this disaster which would have dealt a severe blow to 'the City'.

Oh boy you are so far behind on this one. Whilst the EU has not implemented a tax on banking our own Government did some time ago.

So another thing you thought you voted for but aren't ever going to get.
