The Market Traders, Mitchell Sisters, Brannings everything seems to be just working now, This is probably the strongest the cast has been seen at-least 2010 maybe further back. I generally love all the characters, Carmel is 1 of my favourites, Donna and Shrimpy should get together they would be a fun pairing!

It's better than it was this time last year, because they've trimmed it down.

Under DTC it was just full of under developed secondary characters like Nancy, Tamwar and Paul. I now care more for most of the cast.

It's a shame R&R are leaving mind.

Donna and Shrimpy really???? The cast is by far the weakest out of all the soaps and i can this as i watch them all.
Its a really small cast for a start, where are all the characters?!

The show needs to reflect all aspects of life, Donna isn't exactly a murderer, I think a Donna and Shrimpy relationship would be fun to watch, I'd like to see Shrimpy on the show full-time. I also find the other 2 soaps (That's the Terraced House one and the old farm one) the casts are not interesting and a lot of characters are dated and really need to leave for some fresh blood to bring the show into the 21st Century.

A small cast is better though. The Corrie cast is far too big and most of them haven't had a storyline in years. In fact, some of them have never even had a storyline. Dreadful.

It does have more long serving iconic characaters than EastEnders, however. This gives it a great advantage.

As much as I agree you need long term characters, It's important not to have too many otherwise your show becomes dated which in my opinion has occured in those other 2 shows. EastEnders has the right balance.

Mitchell sisters I think are probably the best characters but for how long?
Overall I don't think this is a great cast at the moment.

What nonsense. Kathy, Donna, Carmel, Shakil are crying out to be axed... instead it's Pam and Les and Lee? The show is in a bind right now and TPTB are making bad decisions.

No amount of critic bashing and various positivity threads by you will make a difference`

Just because I am enjoying the show doesn't give you the right to start being rude towards me.

He is a lot lower down in my liking, I forget he is there sometimes, I sense SOC going down the Johnny/Steven route eventually though.

I wouldn't go there without reading the PMs you sent me if I were you... just saying.
You initiated that exchange if I remember correctly.

I questioned your thread... is this not a forum? Is my opinion not as important as yours? Are you above criticism because you are "enjoying the show"?

I agree and the current cast is very fragmented... bits of families... its all indicative of a problem at production level

Abi could be quite an interesting character if they gave her some more material.

No very limited character. Written into a corner

I disagree. I can think of a few characters who seem to serve little or no purpose: Kathy and Shakil being the first two that spring to mind. Bex is a bit boring as well, but I'd have her stay given that she's a Fowler.

Love the Fowlers. Hope they have a bigger 2017.

Bex has potential doesnt she?

Im with you on Kathy and Shakil as I've said. The OP is trying to hype the show I think, but it's ill thought out. Not a scintilla of criticism and thinly veiled attempts to imply that EastEnders is better than the ITV two - I have no problem with the opinion just the feiblt attempt to use the assertion to buoy the flagging EastEnders.

I am not hyping anything. I hated the show under DTC and expressed reasons why. Now I am loving the show that's all.
