I don't see how being seen to give (in relative terms) pocket change does anything to forestall those criticisms. We all know the Kardashians are entirely about self-promotion and this is just another aspect of that for them and no doubt nicely tax-deductible.
Heaven forbid I get called cynical, but "chef-prepared" meals says to me that they were planning a party and it got called off at the last minute.

It's hard for me to get annoyed at someone doing a good thing, even if I generally dislike them.
True. But i wouldn't be surprised if they did this for publicity purposes only.

I also have to wonder how many of the people criticising them for doing this as a publicity stunt have themselves done anything similar out of nobler motives.
Hmmm....maybe they can tell us.

And either get shouted down as liars or defeat the whole point of quietly getting on doing something for the right reasons.

"We're told the menu had it all -- white truffle mac and cheese, sweet potato soufflé, turkey, ham, braised short ribs, and mashed potatoes. For dessert -- pies and cookies." according to TMZ.
LOL white truffle mac

DEFINITELY not just you and blue. Me too.

(Sorry, had a bit of a Dr Seuss moment there).
I'm wondering if we all missed a more subtle version of the remarks here
They really do live on another planet, don't they?.

Though more to the point the collective (see another cunning trek ref) failure was that we didn't immediately launch into the post-assumption narrative without needing the explanatory introductions. e.g.

They must have found a way of claiming it back on their tax returns.

I doubt they ever do anything that doesn't benefit themselves primarily and most significantly.

Neither do a lot of people. That's exactly why there are tax breaks on charitable giving the first place.

I prefer to believe that altruism still exists to a significant degree.

Doubt anyone in the Kartrashian mob would even have heard of it though.

Can't believe I'm standing up for them here, but most major supermarket chains would rather throw away unused food than give it to the homeless, but some (admittedly horrendous, but easily avoided) reality TV people are the bad guys for NOT doing that?

Perhaps they shouldn't have catered for such ridiculous numbers of people who clearly did not need or want so much food and they could instead have donated the money to help even more people and not give it away simply to get rid of the leftovers that their over-privileged guests did not wish to eat.

Lying, probably yes. As I can't believe that anyone with a generous and kind heart would spend so much time resentfully sniping at others for doing something decent.

So much bitter hostility on here. Really sad.

Given that this thread seems to be predicated on the idea that they will do nothing that isn't for personal gain, then that's an impossibility, and by complaining that they've done something good for the wrong reasons you are essentially arguing that they may as well not have done it at all. Something I'm sure Homeless Bob would take issue with.

Well, they could just have thrown it in the bin of course, like most of us do with our leftovers

A very nasty vibe if I'm honest.

Im not 100% sure who these people are, but those slating them, for what no mater how you look at it IS a good thing, are coming out looking much worse than those they seem to look down their noses at.

Donald Trump once donated a meal to a homeless guy.

He sent him the bill a few days later.
That's some claim. Can you provide a source?

Good point.

Says more about them than the people they are sniping at.

It always amazes me that TGBP always assume, based on absolutely sweet FA and no knowledge whatsoever, that the rich and famous don't contribute large amounts to charity and appear to bitterly resent all the famous people who appear on CIN, Red Nose, Sport Relief etc etc and trot out the same old "if he/she cares so much why don't they give some of their own millions to charity?" What makes them think they don't?

If nothing else, let's hope the knowledge we now have of George Michael's charitable work and donations at least gives them pause for thought.

Quite. A friend of mine has been working with a celebrity on their charitable stuff- to be fair, this is someone who is already quite well-known for their "good works", but apparently the actual extent of what they do is far, far more than we ever read about in the press- the majority of it is deliberately kept quite quiet. I imagine this is probably the case for quite a few people in the public eye.

After Paul Walker died it came out that he and his wife had done MASSES of work to help others, but just kept quiet about it.

I mean, think about it. Ask anyone- just normal plebs like you or I- what they'd do with a huge lottery win. I'd say *most* people would include a sizeable donation to a charity or cause they believe in in their answer. Why wouldn't celebrities be the same?

The Kardashians get paid just for tweeting. Up to $200,000 a tweet and Kim up to a cool $1M for product endorsement.

Sure, nice to give out hundreds of meals but that is really a very very small amount compared to their income.

People with much less money do the same frequently. And quietly.

Supporting charities or having your name connected to them, doesn't mean you are doing the leg work. It can mean getting lots of perks (invitations to big dinners and galas).

As their game was called off due to fog, Brighton and Hove Albion have donated all the food that would have been sold to the homeless.

Smug bastards. Shooting is too good for them.
