That was nice of them.

The charity guy is a laugh though: "They stated no publicity but, hey, I'm putting it out there anyway."

Either he can't hold his water and needs his wrist slapped or they were happy for this to be put out there but, no matter, still a good thing to do and I'm sure much appreciated.

Given that this thread seems to be predicated on the idea that they will do nothing that isn't for personal gain, then that's an impossibility, and by complaining that they've done something good for the wrong reasons you are essentially arguing that they may as well not have done it at all. Something I'm sure Homeless Bob would take issue with.
I couldn't give a stuff what they do, quite frankly. They are a bunch of low-life attention seekers who tastelessly flaunt their wealth at every opportunity and whilst it is probably better that they gave the unwanted food away, rather than waste it - it would have been far better still not to have laid on such mindless extravagance in the first place and simply quietly donated the money they needlessly spent on all that food and the catering company - to a good cause.

I doubt there are too many people in their social circle of vacuous hangers-on who were in need of any sustenance whatsoever. They're all too full of hot air and bullshit to have any space for a mushroom vol-au-vent or a pork pie.

And I suspect they asked it to be announced that they didn't want it to be made public. They issue press-releases every time one of them scratches their arse. Publicity is their oxygen - Without it they have no reason to exist. If they'd insisted on non-disclosure then why would that charity announce it - They'd effectively be ensuring the generous (sic) Kardashians never dealt with them again as their wishes were not respected.

Why not feed 1000 people with that same money or do the homeless turn their noses up at meals that aren't "chef-prepared"?
How else do you prepare a meal that large? Either a chef or you spend days doing it yourself.

Why does this bother you so much. 100 homeless people were fed del opus food in Christmas Day and you whinging and moan about it. Why?

Well apparently they usually pretend they've prepared it all themselves, so I suppose this way they were forced to admit that they had used a caterer instead of posting a load of misleading and ridiculous old bollocks on social media about their alleged culinary prowess.

Is that supposed to mean something other than you coming across as nasty and bitter?

Those b******s 😡 What were they thinking?? Donating meals to the hungry and homeless on Christmas Day.

Vile people.

🙄🙄🙄

Wtf is wrong with the people on this forum?!? When was the last time you did anything for others? So what if, potentially, it was for publicity (even though it was not THEM who leaked this story) 100 people were still fed. 100 people who didnt and still don't know where their next meal is coming from?

A good deed was done, never mind the intentions behind it.

For the same reason my opinion of them and their self-seeking motives seems to grind your gears.

Still, I found something new out today - People are willing to defend the Kardashians. Truly, we are in the End Times.

How else do you prepare a meal that large? Either a chef or you spend days doing it yourself.
Err...It was them that made a big-deal out of them being "chef-prepared" as if to say "Our giveaways are better than others".

A nice bit of public charity papers over many cracks. Who in recent times perfectly illustrates that?

You're not quite getting it, are you?

Who bloody cares WHY they did it - the point is, 100 people benefitted from this. I am actually astounded why people are actually complaining about them doing this.

As has been pointed out multiple times, it was not them who leaked this story.

I'm sure you can put any interpretation on it that you choose.

I made a considerable number of contributions to various charities myself this Christmas, including Crisis at Christmas, Social Bite, DementiaUK, Motor Neurone Disease Association, Pancreatic Cancer Research, SSPCA and the White Helmets.

Forgive me then if I am underwhelmed by a bunch of multi-millionaires donating their reheated leftovers, when they could easily have done a lot more. I found it to be both liberating and satisfying to give money to good causes than to waste it on stuff that prosperous people neither need nor want. If I had the staggering wealth of the Kardashians I would gladly do considerably more.

Now, would you like to talk again about nastiness and bitterness?

Why do you keep saying left overs? How do you know it was leftovers and not that they paid a chief to cook a meal for 100 people?

As you know and keep hinting, giving to charity does not make you a nice person, Your posts are very unkind

They do say, we hate in others what we unconsciously see in ourselves. I think that is true in this case.

It was stated to be leftovers in the report about it.... so unless you are now going to claim that this did not happen, then it remains "leftovers". They could have and should have done better. They have grotesque mounts of undeserved and unearned wealth but only see fit to donate stuff they have no further use for - such as leftover food.

The implication of charitable giving is that there is an element of giving up something oneself in order to benefit others

Your opinion of me is of no consequence. I KNOW I am a decent person and so do those people who know me. I am unlikely to lose any sleep over the opinions of a faceless person on an internet forum who thinks that a bunch of brainless millionaires handing over their sloppy leftovers to the homeless is somehow an act of selflessness and worthy of praise.

Lets see them donating half their wealth to homeless charities - or rolling up their sleeves to volunteer at a refuge - then we might all be on the same songsheet.

Knowing what they do and caring about what they do are not one and the same thing.

... but I think you probably know this.

Where have I said that? I just don't think its worthy of sneering at. IMO You come off just as bad as those you are sneering at. in fact worse. You don't care, that is fine.

In the great scheme of things, it was the most trivial of gestures, made by a woman who could do immensely good things with the wealth she and her family possess, if they chose to.

They chose not to.

If they did something truly momentous, I would gladly acknowledge it but I'm afraid I see little to applaud in someone immensely wealthy who could easily have done more for the hungry and homeless than just hand over the leftover food her rich friends didn't want to eat.

I can see we have very differing attitudes and we are unikely to reach a consensus on this. You seem as comfortable with your position as i am with mine. Lets's agree to differ.

The thing is, we don't know if they do do a lot more - most people with a high level of earnings donate to charity (it's tax deductible ) and are patrons of various charities. It's good for their image, it works for Angelina Jolie

I don't know much about the Kardashians other than they are a product of our time - famous for doing nothing, but that's as much down to the public as it is to their publicist. Kim Kardashian's not on Time's list of 100 most influential people or worth $45m by herself, people buy into the crap she's selling.

On the other hand, 100 people had a nice Christmas lunch

So it *was* reported as being 'leftovers'? Wow. I thought I was bad at judging quantities - I always put a spud or two too many in the pot and end up with too much mash - but to end up with enough to feed 100 that's a bit much. Silly chef. Hope his cooking is better than his counting.

Still say good on them. They're better people than me. A homeless person would have to wrestle the turkey carcass from my cold, dead hands. Everyone knows leftovers are best on Boxing Day with pickles and a Tesco Christmas cheese selection.

I haven't seen any reports of it being leftovers - and I've read more about the bloody Kardashians during the course of this thread than I have since I heard of them

Alright guys. Lets just say they were not Leftovers and the Kardashians had Gourmet cooks to make a hundred meals for the homeless

Now a hundred meals does not sound a lot as that is just feeding a hundred homeless people when there must be over a thousand in that state that are homeless. So you have to ask yourself. How come they could not make more meals for those people as they must know that there are thousands that are homeless and not a hundred

Do the Kardashians think there is only a hundred people that are homeless because that is what it looks like. I thought about this since they did it and i have to say it was a nice gesture by the family to do this at Christmas. But do they do this every Christmas because if this is just a one off then why do this kind gesture this year and not last year or the year before

From what I have read, they gave it to a charity called Red Eye - who presumably then passed on the food to people they deal with.

I'm not sure I could tell you why I give to one disability charity and not another, but other people are giving to other disability charities Nobody ever questions me like they do the K's though

I'm not their greatest fan bit come on now. Had she given nothing no one would have noticed. As it is she did and still gets slagged off. Seems she couldn't win.
i agree with this, im no fan of them but it was good of them to do what they did

My issue is this: she did not buy all this food to donate to homeless, hungry people. She bought it to feed to her friends and party guests on Christmas Eve. They did not eat all the food, hence there being such a surplus.

If they HAD eaten it all, nothing would have been donated to the homeless.

That's it in a nutshell.

She gave the food that her rich friends didn't want to eat. It was not a gesture intended to primarily benefit the needy. It was simply that she had over-catered for her guests. Let's not pretend she's morphed into Mother Theresa.

If she actually had set out to do this intentionally, we'd have been having a whole different conversation.
