Corrie couldn't even care about the child cancer plot with Hope, despite claiming it would be followed up on.

Michelle shouldn't have even got pregnant in the first place, considering she flat out didn't want a child at one point.”

Exactly.

There's plenty of room for happiness, anyway with that particular storyline there was drama enough to come, with Leanne also carrying Steve's baby, didn't need to kill the baby off, or put Kym Marsh through such unwelcome grief...Disgusted to be honest!”

Corrie using pregnancy and babies yet again and them disposing of them as and when they feel like it.

And the fact that they are having Kym Marsh repeat exactly what happened to her in real life is disgraceful. I don't care whether KM minds or nor the issue should never have been raised with her. It's voyeurism.

It's happened to quite a few Corrie characters in the last ten years: Claire Peacock, Maria Connor, Becky McDonald (twice), Leanne Battersby, Izzy Armstrong, Tracy Barlow, Carla Connor and Erica Holroyd.”

No as Boogie listed the amount of characters who have miscarried or lost a baby I think out weighs the ones who have given birth.

I read the newapaper this morning and i saw that Michelle will lose her baby in Coronation Street

Do you think it is right that someone in real life who lost a baby should act it in a show

She didn't have to do it - she chose to. There's a thread on the subject here:-

It's her job.

When I heard about the upcoming storyline I thought she lost her baby in the last couple of years, but it was actually in 2009. So she obviously feels a lot of time has past. It's right if she wants to act it.

Not impressed considering it will just be a plot device for her to get with Robert. We might get some decent continuity with Liz mentioning how she lost a child, but that's about it. Soap stories (especially those trying to highlight issues) are mostly used for a love story or affair.

A bit disappointed. I would have thought there would be lots of interesting material to have Michelle and Leanne each raising one of Steve's kids on the same street. Feels like a cop out for her to lose it. And yet another depressing storyline. I feel like this was already covered when Maria had her stillborn baby but I guess that was longer ago than it feels like so they thought it was time to recycle that topic.

I thought so too. It could have had interesting implications if the 2 children had got together in 20 years time.

I don't think it's fair for Corrie to have approached her with the storyline in the first place, but I commend Kym Marsh for being brave enough to do it, I can't imagine how hard it would be for her. I just hope that the writing side of things won't let her down.

Didn't the actor who played Joe Roscoe in Hollyoaks have a stillborn baby with his wife in reality too before then doing the storyline in the show with Mercedes

I think spoilers shouldn't be in the title's of threads.

How hard is it to understand that?

Yeah hard to believe it's coming up 9 years ago!!

It's obviously a topical issue, but it is never played as such. Losing a baby has become nothing more than a device to produce flat pack drama.

In the 00's there was Alison, Sarah and Maria losing their babies, which were very different stories and with a few years in between them. Then,
2010 - Becky
2011 - Leanne
2012 - Izzy, Tracy
2014 - Carla
2015 - Erica

And now, Michelle. This is clearly a trigger for Steve and Leanne's baby to hurt Michelle even more as she runs into Robert's arms. Of course, we will get the hard-hitting initial scenes, but when the story as a whole is overplayed and overused, is it worth it? There's a point where it's no longer topical and more needlessly gratuitous. This crosses the line into cheap drama.

Steve's quite unlucky for miscarriages. Becky miscarried then later found that she couldn't carry for full term, Tracy miscarried their twins and now Michelle. I'm assuming maybe Karen did as well since she had issues as well, but I don't remember whether she did or not.

Not looking forward to it at all to be honest.

Admittedly though that's because I just can't handle anything involving babies getting hurt or killed.

Weirdly enough I can handle anything in fiction: blood, guts, gore you name it but not baby deaths, they upset me way too much even if it is just fiction.

But then that's just me, agree to disagree.

My first thought was "Oh, no. More misery to look forward to"

We really don't need this.

Oh for some light relief (not forced comedy)
