In the 00's there was Alison, Sarah and Maria losing their babies, which were very different stories and with a few years in between them. Then,
2010 - Becky
2011 - Leanne
2012 - Izzy, Tracy
2014 - Carla
2015 - Erica
And now, Michelle. This is clearly a trigger for Steve and Leanne's baby to hurt Michelle even more as she runs into Robert's arms. Of course, we will get the hard-hitting initial scenes, but when the story as a whole is overplayed and overused, is it worth it? There's a point where it's no longer topical and more needlessly gratuitous. This crosses the line into cheap drama.”
Excellent post, and spot on.
Gratuitous is exactly right.
I love Corrie but am sick to death of the same storylines being recycled for the same old characters.
