* Stopress*
ITV Newscaster wearing socks and shoes, just said Happy New Year. Chinese viewers were in uproar as it's not their New Year until January 28th when the year of the rooster starts. |

It was red blue, purple and yellow. The SNP are outraged. |

Tabloids report a " Storm" and "fury" on BBC News. Social media is alive with comments:-
One twit-ter user said. I want to complain the BBC News on New Year's Eve is twenty minutes long. That's far too long, it should be just ten minutes. Another social media user posted. Tonight BBC1 News is 7.25 and 10.05 pm. I object to this, why does it have to be at 25/05, why not at the top of the hour or half past the hour. It's disgusting. I think it must always start on the 00 or 30. Another post complained about Donald Trump, Donald Trump hasn't been mentioned a single time on the bulletins today, why? Another posted about the New Year honours that they focused far too much on the " Winners" and not those taking part. Children will see that winning is the be all and end all and if you come second or last it is seen as failing. It should be more about taking part. And the over prominence of pyrotechnics in News bulletins was complained about by a social media backlash, when " one" poster, said, why does BBC News have product placement of fireworks today. Every bulletin has seen them being fired off buildings and bridges around the world, this is blatant advertising, and against BBC rules. For an unbiased bulletin there should be films from countries that do not have fireworks, rather just have dark buildings. One poster complained why fireworks were a worthy item on the News, as it was totally ignored on 5th November. One felt it was a misuse of the News bulletin with the BBC self promoting its own showing of London fireworks tonight. And finally Parents have complained about the late scheduling of the London fireworks on BBC1, children like to watch fireworks but are typically in bed well before midnight. A campaign to have the London NYE fireworks on at the 7.25 News bulletin has been started, and supported by RMT Southern railway drivers who would prefer to be in bed by 9 pm as it's a bank holiday tomorrow. |

Are BBC Presenters still doing that act where they pretend that a ream of A4 paper is a tablet?

Nice parody of MR_Pitkin, but for true accuracy now you have to start a brand new thread every single time you see a man wearing shoes on BBC News...
