Anyone else watching this on Ch5? Hope Eddie Hall can do well in the final this year. In terms of the sheer effort they put in these guys are an inspiration to us all.

How do you know they're hardly not an inspiration to anyone?

Caught a bit of it the other day and saw The Mountain break his own world record by throwing a keg weighing 15 kilos over a bar that was over 7 metres in the air.

Ive been watching this, Eddie Hall becoming the first man to deadlift 500kg was some performance. As for being inspiring well Laurence Sharlei proved what you can do if you put your mind to it as he came back from injury after injury to win the European crown. Hope Eddie goes all the way in the final but dislocating two fingers was a setback. If not this year I still think Eddie will be the next brit to win the world title. Adam Bishop seems to have a bit of ability just needs to develop technique and gain experience. Probably be between Thor and Brian Shaw though.

Don't know if you've seen it or aware of it but there's a documentary about Eddie Hall on Netflix. It was filmed in the season before WSM 2015. The amount he's come on a year after that into this season WSM I'd say he's a dead cert to win it in the near future. He's a very focused individual.

As for Adam Bishop it was really interesting to watch him in his heat. He's improved dramatically and was really unlucky not to progress to the final. He surprised me to be fair and I imagine a few others.

I never missed it when the BBC had the rights every year. Now channel five Jesus add take up over a third of the hour show. Plus I find it boring now compered to the eighties and nineties. Big names then from Iceland etc. Now we see over the hill men like Terry hollins from Dartford. Or under fit men mostly from UK making the numbers up
And there is too much time trying to fill in the programme with competitions and little 15 min long sob stories from again UK under fit men

Some of them don't make it a secret that they're on performance enhancing drugs.

Kieliszkowski looks like a future WSM champion. Barring injury.

Yup, and he has a bad back at the moment too!

Love WSM, i've watched it every year since I was a kid. Used to love all the weird events, events in water, arm wrestling etc... but as it has got more of a sport it has become a lot more standardised, which is a shame.
It also used to be a lot longer show, and you saw every event in full for all competitors, which they don't do any more for the final, which is also a shame.

Having said that, I look forward to it every year

Eddie Hall has a good chance in the future, especially as he has now gone full time and given up his job, shame about his fingers this year, which I think will put him out of the running. Brian Shaw is looking very good, i'll be very surprised if he is beaten.

I am watching it. I always do each Christmas.

A question to anyone who knows...when they show edited flashback footage clips, why don't they show Mariusz Pudzianowski in any of them?

I understand that he was disqualified one year for taking substances, but surely they can't be so petty to completely wipe him from the history of the tournament can they?
He's probably the greatest, yet they do not pay homage to him.

Only managed to watch one heat so far, the one where Terry Hollands proved that you should never go back. I'll have to remember to watch the final tomorrow.

It's the same complaint I make every year, though. On the BBC the heats were 30 minutes and the final was an hour. On C5 they're the same length, which is too long for a heat and too short for the final.

I saw him on one of the truck-pulling flashbacks.

Still no excuse for drugs

These guys are amazing!!! Super-human! It's incomprehensible to me that anyone can possess such immense strength. I enjoy watching & look forward to seeing who out of Brian Shaw & Hapthor Thingy (I thinks it's between those two, with Eddie Hall in third) wins.
