MBE's, OBE's & CBE'S
If you're awarded an MBE, can you then get either an OBE or CBE for other achievements. I know people who've received one of these awards have then gone on to receive a knighthood, but was wondering if anyone held multiples of the 3?

Yes you can.....Jessica Ennis has just gone through the ranks by adding a DBE to her other honours which were MBE and at least one other ....if honours were given at the end of careers she probably now wouldn't appear to be over rated in terms of honours ....not her fault but a genuine fault in the system.
The late and great horse racing commentator Peter O'sullevan had O,M and C b.e's for his brilliant contribution to broadcasting and charity but with the greatest respect 4 honours looks a bit OTT in the scheme of things. End of career assessment for honours would avoid the system looking as silly as it does today. |
