Do you mind being directly coughed onto?

I braved the sales this morning and whilst queuing and looking around the racks I was directly coughed onto so that I could actually the germ laden air on my face. People are not even turning their head or doing it into a hanky or sleve or whatever, just directly doing it onto me.

I nearly said something after one woman actually put dots of spit along with the cough onto my cheek but decided not to as people soon rally against 'moaners' and I would likely be told to mind my own business.

Is this direct and unsmothered coughing now considered acceptable or should I be saying something?

I get annoyed by people who cough without covering their mouths even when NOT coughing into someone's face. Likewise yawning without covering. It just shows a lack of manners.

Gets coughed on face, doesn't say anything, runs to internet to vent.

That'll teach her.

If someone is coughing continously without covering their mouths I just tell them. My experience on the train:

Me: Could you cough on your hands please?
Idiot: I was!
Me: No, you're not. You're spluttering into the air.
Idiot. Alright, you've made your point. *doesn't cough again*

The worst part is the way he said "I was" as if everyone on the carriage was blind/stupid.
It amazes me how ill mannered and ignorant people are. One time I coughed into my coat and somebody actually asked me if I was ok! It's like having manners makes you an alien.

Not by me it's not.

I'd have definitely said something, if not directly to the person, then an exclamation of dismay to make it obvious.

Coughing straight at someone is truly disgusting. The only mitigating circumstance might be if the cough suddenly came on uncontrollably.

No, I don't mind. I often head down to the chest clinic and ask people to cough on me.

I'm going to say well done for having me guts to say something. I'll say something next time even if I get berated for speaking up. I asked my Sister and she had a woman sneeze on her which is worse still. She gave her one of her withering scowls!

Why is that worse?

I would certainly say something if someone coughed in my face.

It reminds me of an episode of Everybody loves Raymond where Raymond was in a public toilet and a man sneezed in his face. It was so funny:

ETA sorry just read, she sneezed on your sister, yes that's worse than a cough

Coughs and sneezes spread diseases.

The dogs sneeze on me regularly. I wouldn't tolerate it from a human, they should know better.

I really hate it when people spit on the pavement! There is no excuse at all. TB anyone?

It's a national pastime in some countries.

Also, I notice that footballers seem to spit a lot whereas rugby players don't?

Maybe I just haven't noticed the rugby players doing it.

Some young people have not been told
`coughs and sneezes spread diseases`.

As does sex without a condom, not washing your hands, and touching your eyes with your unwashed fingers.

I blame the demise of the public information film for the increase in this disgusting behaviour. When we got the "coughs and sneezes" film a couple of times a day, we all knew better than to do this.

That's disgusting! Have people not got any manners any more? I'd have said something alright, not to her though as I'd probably get some smartarsed reply back, but to those nearby I'd have said in a voice loud enough for her to hear 'does anyone want a few days unexpected holiday? Here's an offer not to be sneezed at - unlike me apparently - courtesy of the ever so thoughtful and considerate person alongside me who has kindly just covered me with enough germs to keep me off work until spring. Anyone not wanting to take up the offer, I suggest if you want to browse over her you bring an umbrella with you!' . Total humiliation can work better than confrontation. Next time she goes shopping she'll be wrapped up like an Egyptian mummy.

Ah well, to the snidey woman in Marks earlier who made some loud comment to her child about being coughed on, I had put my had up to my face as I always do.

Perhaps it was you OP?
