Very good, my son and I both laughed out loud. I think maybe some people on here are not quite getting the concept as they sound so po faced.
I think I punned without realising

I nearly bailed out after the first 5-10 minutes, which I think was the weakest part.

I'm glad I stuck with it. Things started to improve when the dog got stuck in the cat flap, and the bunk beds collapsing.

Definitely benefited from the fact that, apart from David Suchet, the cast were all unknown to me, but likeable, so you end up being on their side.

Those that declared it rubbish after the first few minutes (going by timing of their posts) should have hung on a few minutes longer, then they would have been hooked!

Agree...

There are too many who say..." I gave it five minutes " on posts, not sure if true or a put down, but this shows if you invest in something you get payback.

I recall things like the great," Only fools and horses" it could take 10/20 minutes to get to the belly laugh.

Some have limited tolerance or attention spans, thoose prepared to go with it, can be rewarded.

Accidentaly came into this during David Suchet's "Oliver!" part. Thoroughly enjoyed the rest of it as it seemed to be along the lines of "The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Drama Society" plays and "Noises Off", both of which I have crewed for at AmDram level and remember with affection as they were great fun to do and allowed inventive additions.

So apparently, I am middle class. No - just got a sense of humour.

I think a few on this thread need to make a New Year Resolution to get a sense of humour.

A sense of humour?
No sense of humour then?

The funniest thing about this show was your need to repeatedly disparage others through the thread simply because their opinion differs to yours.

My thoughts exactly (although I enjoyed the show as well). And yet it's ITV that "a few will defend whatsoever".

I remember watching The Play that Goes Wrong last year during their set on the Royal Variety. Made the front page of reddit as well (and among their pick of best videos of 2015) so it was enjoyed by those the world over.

I do think it was a bit wasted on New Years Eve though.

Seen that clip on youtube now. Never head of this lot until today. Me like. I did Drama in Sixth Form and some amdram as a young chap, including The Real Inspector Hound, Stoppard's Country House Murder spoof, (Ooooh, get me!) so the stuff going wrong vibe just resonates. Remembered loads of cock ups. I'd like to catch them live now.

I thought this was hysterical. Best thing on tv for me all Christmas. Hope it becomes a regular Christmas thing, there are plenty of plays they could attempt.

Surely the best thing on over the holiday; certainly the funniest. You have to be very skilled to look that stupid and clumsy.

It got much better as it went along. I enjoyed it.

But I suspect much like the excellent and superior The Sound of Music Live last year, it will not rate that well.

Maybe people thought you lacked humour because you started your op with 'oh dear, oh dear, oh dear oh dear' when it turned out that the programme actually had many laugh out loud moments?

Were you watching a different programme. Odd ITV should screen a similar one to this one at the same time.

We enjoyed it and I thought that the rehearsals must have been a nightmare! The timing of the visual gags was spot on. This is something the first few posters seem to have missed!

That's not the point I was making. The point I was making is the poster who had been telling others that they "should get a sense of humour" was being hypocritical as he is always accusing others of "labelling him", whereas this is the exact thing he is doing.

Nothing to do with ITV screening a similar show.

That New Year resolution to be nice to people didn't last long.

So you think there's nothing wrong with telling people they lack a sense of humour just because they don't agree with you?

This is DS.
Some are only willing to accept that people should be allowed to have any opinion they like, as long as it doesn't conflict with their own.
In fact, mentioning no names, if you say you disagree, you could be accused of being rude.

It's an extension of the Bill Shankly philosophy;

"It doesn't matter if you win or lose...as long as you don't lose."
