I laughed out loud and even shed a small tear of laughter.
Brilliantly acted. So hard to do, with timing and the cast not cracking up.

Obviously there were sound effects, but they were expertly timed. Polystyrene can be made to appear so real with the right noises applied.

I'm so pleased the majority here enjoyed it.
I've seen all their shows, this one twice, and love them all, but you can never tell how well it will work on tv, but I still roared at it.

We enjoyed it and I thought that the rehearsals must have been a nightmare! The timing of the visual gags was spot on. This is something the first few posters seem to have missed!
We saw it at the theatre last week and were gobsmacked at how dangerous some of the visual gags looked. Afterwards we tried to work out how some of them were done, e.g. did the sides of the bunks move further than the actual beds? But you don't think of that whilst watching.

Didn't watch the TV version but in the theatre a "stage hand" gave my daughter-in-law an electrical cable to hold. Shortly afterwards there was a loud electrical explosion on stage. Brilliantly done and really great to be involved in the comedy even in Row V.

It was brilliant. The ship crashing through the Eggheads studio and then onto the Teletubbies set was hilarious. David Suchet was a great sport. Especially when he put on the fake moustache and started playing Poirot again.

Nothing to do with ITV screening a similar show.
So where did ITV come into all this?

The poster in question claims that there are some people that would "defend ITV whatsoever" which isn't true. That comes across as hypocritical as here the poster is relentlessly defending a BBC show, and that's OK apparently.

As I mentioned above, I did enjoy the show.

After having watched the first few minutes and thinking it wasn't for me, I went back to it later and thought it hilarious. Will definitely be catching up on iPlayer.

I've been looking forward to this all Christmas and I wasn't disappointed! Laughed from start to finish, there were so many good bits that it's hard to pick a stand out moment. I'd love to see the west end production, seen snippets of The Play that Went Wrong and The Bank Robbery that Went Wrong on tv and they look just as brilliant.

I am glad I recorded this.

I don't think I ever stopped laughing.

Even small details like the paramedic checking David Suchet for concussion.

BBC, more please.

I thought it was the funniest thing on TV all Christmas (though the competition was hardly fierce). But it was very much an acquired taste and could have done with being 45 minutes at most as it started to lose interest after a while.

This likely cost it ratings as it did not do very well. And many who did not understand it was intended to be full of what they were watching possibly tuned out assuming it was just a badly acted real show. Though the title was a bit of a clue!

Think we just have to accept some will have found it funny and others will not.

But it was not on the right night or the right slot. Might have worked better on Christmas Eve when viewers are in a jovial pantomime mood.

I thought it was a good length, but agree a pre Christmas, maybe Christmas Eve late afternoon would have been better.

Maybe people thought you lacked humour because you started your op with 'oh dear, oh dear, oh dear oh dear' when it turned out that the programme actually had many laugh out loud moments?
Really? I must've missed every single one then because I watched it all and found it to be an unmitigated laugh-free zone from beginning to end. The dreadful rating would seem to bear that out.

My thoughts exactly (although I enjoyed the show as well). And yet it's ITV that "a few will defend whatsoever".
That's not the point I was making. The point I was making is the poster who had been telling others that they "should get a sense of humour" was being hypocritical as he is always accusing others of "labelling him", whereas this is the exact thing he is doing.
Quite so. I read in the Ratings thread that said poster is known as a hard-core BBC fan so perhaps that makes things clearer as to why they feel the need to disparage others repeatedly through the thread in support of a BBC show.

That New Year resolution to be nice to people didn't last long.
I don't make New Year's Resolutions.

Just watched this with 3 children of different ages ... we all absolutely loved it and were laughing throughout. Fab family entertainment and the cast were brilliant. Would love to see more of this on tv.

I found it very funny and laughed loads throughout. The bit where the actor was trying to open that bottle and raging at the audience had me in stitches.

Other posts on this thread suggest many found it funny - along with those who found the live show in the West End a great night out and thouroughly enjoyable - so it's not really possible to describe it as an "unmitigated laugh-free zone" unless everyone is in agreement with that. It's obvious that it was hilarious and brought a lot of laughter for many people.

If you didn't find it funny, then you didn't find it funny. That's not a problem as humour is subjective. However, it doesn't mean it wasn't funny at all. It just wasn't for you.

Yes, I don't speak for everybody in the whole world - Who knew? Everyone gives their own opinion, this is crushingly obvious and to pretend otherwise simply in order to misrepresent that personal opinion as a blanket one is pretty weak beer.

I must admit I love the Mischief Theatre and what they do.

We took a punt on The Play That Goes Wrong in Bath when they did a UK tour prior to London, they really were unknown then!

They then toured Peter Pan Goes Wrong with the same cast which we also saw in Bath as well as seeing The Play That Goes Wrong again in London. We've also seen The Comedy About A Bank Robbery as well.

The TV adaptation of Peter Pan Goes Wrong is based on the theatrical production, but there are differences, I won't spoil it and say what!

Of course humour is entirely subjective but I'm glad I haven't got a sense of humour that didn't find this funny. I was laughing all the way through it and I knew what to expect!

I enjoyed PPGW (and am so glad that I did)! as we booked up months ago to see The Play That Goes Wrong (going in a few weeks time). I'm looking forward to it even more now.

Eh? What sort of logic is that? You didn't find it funny so it had low ratings?

Saying it was an "unmitigated laugh-free zone from beginning to end" is a blanket phrase, though. You're saying it as a statement rather than simply saying, "Well I didn't find it funny," or "It didn't make me laugh." You also use its ratings as a means to suggest what you're saying is fact when there's evidence contradicting your statement.

It's impossible for it to be an "unmitigated laugh-free zone from beginning to end" if people found it funny throughout and laughed at what was performed in the show.

It had low ratings so therefore I feel validated in my own opinion about it. Not difficult really is it?

Saying it was an "unmitigated laugh-free zone from beginning to end" is a blanket phrase, though. You're saying it as a statement rather than simply saying, "Well I didn't find it funny," or "It didn't make me laugh."
You're knowingly misrepresenting again. I said:

I must've missed every single one then because I watched it all and found it to be an unmitigated laugh-free zone from beginning to end.
I am clearly stating my own personal opinion, just as everyone does. You choose to wilfully misinterpret that in order to score points - It's a common online device.

You also use its ratings as a means to suggest what you're saying is fact when there's evidence contradicting your statement.
Merely corroboration for my opinion. How on earth could it be a hard fact when we're dealing solely in opinion?

It's impossible for it to be an "unmitigated laugh-free zone from beginning to end" if people found it funny throughout and laughed at what was performed in the show.
I'm not responsible for what other people think. I speak for myself only, as you well know. Now, do try and post without misrepresenting what's been said.
