Firstly, I would like to thank dtc for ruining soaps best kept secret and killing it just shortly after the 20 year mark, yes who is Mark Jnrs daddy I am talking about you. Thankfully what he didnt do is kill Phil.

So, you may ask what am I rambling about, well Phil's Alcoholism story started in 1996 and is still ongoing, still as relevant today as it was in 1996 and is obviously played a heavy part in Phil's storylines, including his current need for a liver transplant.

Phil is now on the mend and will start his hardest battle in his fight against his alcoholism and so his storyline will continue for the forseeable

I can't think of any soaps with a long running storyline that has had such justice done to it, Luckily Phil is played by a competant actor in Steve Mcfadden who has brought the story to life.

Personally, I think soaps should have more long running stories rather than have something happen to a character then it be forgotten 6 months later.

I know there are a few haters on the board but what are your thoughts on this long running storyline

Edit to add.. this was my special 15k celebration post

I agree

The old producer believed that these storylines was to make more people to watch the show. But really he turned them off the show as they became too far fetched. And how could he mess up the Mark Jr storyline when it could have been one of the best storylines we have had this year
