As expected, something has happened.

Seems at least two men entered the night club in fancy dress (Santa outfits) and began firing in to the crowd indiscriminately.

BBC reporting that at least one of the attackers is apparently still alive and inside the club, potentially with hostages like in Paris last year

Yes, attackers apparently wearing Santa costumes.

Not 100% sure how many people are involved now - original reports said 2 but now some reports suggest 3 - one dead, one who has ran away ripping off the Santa suit as he did (on the loose) and another potentially still inside the nightclub (contained but potential civilians still inside).

Kurdish connection?
For a religion of piece, Islam has produced a number of mass killers.

Assuming this Turd (sorry Kurd) is Islamic.

Yeah, because committing mass murder by firing indiscriminately into a crowd is one thing, but doing it dressed as Father Christmas?! Makes my blood boil, it really does. The sick ****s!

I think the reason first reports were quite conservative was that a large part of the club seems to be "open air" with large outside areas, thus leading some people to assuming people would be able to get away more easily.

It seems that was not necessarily the case, although potentially 600-800 in the club at the time.

No matter how many police on the streets, no matter how many people are searched, it is simply impossible to stop lone attackers

Hideous.

I was thinking to myself earlier tonight how vulnerable people are on New Years Eve, millions of people across the globe going to heavily populated areas. This could happen anywhere, they're armed what use is nightclub security? And the Police are too spread out to be efficient because there are so many potential targets.

This is getting beyond a joke now. How much more of this are we supposed to take?

I think there should be a bigger argument for more armed police and more non-uniformed police officers at big events like this. High police presence doesn't prevent attacks it just makes them choose places with less PP and so the response time is higher, and thus the death toll is greater.

Why do we let people know where the police are at all times in bright coloured jackets? Make these people paranoid of everyone around them, that's what I say.

Imagine going to pull out a gun in a club, killing 3 or 4 people before a "passerby" who is actually an armed, plain clothes officer shoots you in the head.

Those are the police you see and are visible to reassure the public of their presence; there will be just as many plain clothes officers on duty. And there are simply too many potential targets to even possibly consider protecting: not just 'famous' places, but every hotel, hospital, department store, market, school, bus and train station, airport, etc., etc., etc. The list is endless. The key to stopping most major attacks is intelligence; lone attackers, especially those with no 'history' are almost impossible to stop

Try to keep things in perspective. World homicide rates remain steady at around 7 per 100,000 per year. In the UK it's around 500-600 per year. So the 'success rate' for terrorists and assorted mass murderers is actually very small, when you think about it. You can't stop people from murdering people, but you can certainly laugh in the face of 'terrorism'. In fact I highly recommend it. Most murderers who think they're fulfilling some sort of noble objective really are a joke, in my opinion.
