Oh god just seen the one of the oldies in the ocean. LOL
Really, really bad, even those no mark channels hidden away on Sky that no one watches would have opted for that. If its a sign of things to come then the BBC are going to be a laughing stock. ![]()

Utterly utterly awful.
![]() The "oneness" is a terrible slogan on every level and as for the idents themselves, well, it's just a quick bit of footage of people with the logo plastered on it...I find it lazy for ITV, so I certainly expect better from BBC One. At least the much-derided rhythm and movement idents had some effort put into them, even if they were a bit crap. Bring back the hippos! |

With any luck, in a few weeks they'll announce 'oneness' was just a temporary post-Christmas theme and the circle idents will return ASAP.
Whilst it's true that the idents don't affect the quality of the programmes, the branding of the BBC's flagship TV service shouldn't be so poor. |

Can't see these lasting. As everyone else has said they are really bad. I bet by Easter they have new ones in place.
They should go back to the balloon and rebrand as that once again. I agree with a previous poster why not show off our greatest landmarks. |

I want to try and stay positive...
...but these idents are appalling. It's not creative in any way, it feels more like a ploy for relatability which just looks cheesy. And 'Oneness' really doesn't work as a slogan, it just doesn't. I'd rather they bring back the Rhythm and Movement idents, I actually liked those in comparison to this dirge. |

So the ident for the news is a load of bare chested swimmers diving in to the sea? Right.
When you think of the amazing 90s "2s" or the circles, these are painful to look at. No creativity at all. Couldn't Lambie-Nairn have done something again? Awful. |

Someone get 'Blue Peter' to run a competition.
I'm sure an eleven year old could come up with something better. |

Just caught one of these idents - the shitness is thoroughly staggering.
Bring back the 1991 smoky globe I say - it still looks great 26 years on. |

Lord Sugar-
'Now, for this task you've got 24 hours to create a brand new on screen identity for BBC1. On the losing team one of you will be fired. 24 hours later- 'That's a bloody disgrace. What were you thinking of? Well, I can tell you now- there ain't no winners here. You're all FIRED'. |

While I think the Circle idents had clearly run their course, I would have preferred they reverted to say using the balloon idents again - as they weren't on for relatively very long at the time - and the imagery is lovely.
Unfortunately (unless the footage was shot on film, which I doubt) they wouldn't be in true HD of course, only upscales... They would hardly need to do much retinkering of the idents either, as the BBC Logo is still the same... |

I hate any idents involving real people. They always look low-budget and tacky.
They should have kept the existing circle idents and just created a few new ones to freshen the set. |

The problem is, it would have been their 11th year in operation. The Balloon ident, which was probably the BBC's best was only in operation from 1997-2002 (5 years). The average ident lifespan has always been roughly 5 or 6 years. |

I've just seen them. Sweet jesus. I know there's cutbacks at the BBC but this is ridiculous. They're just boring. The ambient, musicless soundtrack is just wrong, and the only bit of continuity between the idents is the bare text showing the location of the ident... I mean really it's just like creativity has gone out the window. These would be more suited to BBC Four than BBC One. They were certainly thinking outside the box for these ones that's for sure... I wonder how long these were planned to last? I can't see it going any further than spring tbh...

Wouldn't it have been nice to have a hot air balloon with the BBC One logo on it drifting across some of Britain's natural beauty spots?

The new idents seem to be an obsession with you now! Just ignore them. They won't kill you!

Hardly an obsession, this is a discussion thread about the new look. You seem to be obsessed with defending them...
