In fairness it's good practice.
For the record I use hand sanitizers myself!

But I wouldn't use them after shaking someone's hands though and especially not while they're in front of me looking, bit rude.

"Ewwww! Don't touch my hand, ewwww!"

But then that's just moi.

Did you see the look on his face when he was putting the sanitiser on his hands? A look of genuine disgust!

I used to like Robbie Williams but now he's so far up his own **** I'm surprised he could even see the fireworks!

Probably used the sanitizer on his eyes straight after as well just in case the filthy speck of Fireworks smoke touched his glaring wonderful eyes.

OK I'm starting to feel a bit mean now.

Perhaps one of the fans was manky, left a little deposit on his hands.

So much jealousy, it's laughable. Robbie's one of our last remaining proper pop stars and we should cherish him. Great songs, charismatic performance...the ideal way to see off the year and welcome the new one, a genuine pop party.

I agree with this. Loved the show - some genuine pop classics and great new tunes, 'Love My Life' being a personal fave. Robbie is one of a sadly declining number of real pop stars IMO who can really make an occasion special.

Im no great fan of RW, but I agree he can do a live show like this with ease and confidence. He has an extensive back catalogue and maybe he could have done a couple more of his own hits, but overall I think he was good value wrapped around the fireworks.

The BBC have discovered a format that really works for New Year and there have been some excellent ratings over the previous three shows. Hopefully they can keep getting artists with enough past hits to make this slot the mainstream party it needs to be.

Really? The "jealously" card again? Why is that always the go to line whenever a Celeb gets criticised?

Criticism does not = jealously and likewise being "jealous" doesn't always mean you dislike that person.

For example I'm jealous of J.K. Rowling but I don't dislike her, on the contrary I actually have a lot of respect for her and neither has she ever done anything to make me criticise her for.

Robbie on the other hand I'm not a fan of at all (love his song Angel though, that's a classic) and yet there's not one jealous bone in my body towards him, funny how that works hey? It's as if I don't fit into your "ya just jealous of him" narrative huh?

You guys ought to pause, breathe deeply, walk away for half an hour, and then come back when you are sober and READ some of the utterly inane, childish guff you're typing.

#1 Who ON EARTH watches Robbie Williams? (that's rhetoric, it means "you don't need to reply, we already know the inevitable answer.")

#2 You ought to stop variations on this idiotic phrase "to be fair" - why are you afraid of your words, unless you are actually hiding behind "to be fair"? Who told you life was "fair"? Life is wonderful, exciting, but Robbie Williams is utterly ghastly, only beaten in the ghastly stakes by that horrendous "progressive" (are you serious? LOL) music track which destroyed the already mediocre, sameish fireworks (aka a tax write-off.)

#3 Apart from his music, I am sure he is a lovely bloke. As for all the hand sanitiser comments - he's WISE to do this - and since wisdom is a rare commodity in this age, I'd do the same if I wanted to stay well after shaking the hands of British drunks who can't control themselves and have no sense (most of you, "to be ABSOLUTELY fair... and blunt".)

Apologies for being frank and truthful, I know you English buffoons aren't too hot on straight talking frank honesty, unless it's mumbled insecurely under your breath whilst simultaneously feigning a "How ARE you?!!" smile.

~ Hint for the great unwashed and those with no sense (most English people):

Classical music works, ditch the rest.

^ ^
Right, that was my impression of a thumb-twiddling ignorant English chump with very little to occupy the space between their ears, so don't take it to heart, its just a parody. Lighten up, be nice about your fellow man and have a nice life
Sorry to disturb you Non-English fellow but I dare say you seem pretty upset by polite people being...Well polite? I'm so sorry here's a nice, lovely cup of tea to calm you down fine gentleman and don't you worry about the germs, I washed the cup, pot and especially the tea itself in Dettol, don't want my British germs to upset you now.

Edit:

I see you edited your post to add in you're just joking, what a fine gentleman you are.

I am English, I despise the English attitudes in many aspects of life, and their inability to say ANYTHING without mixed messages and smoke screens, aka a load of bollocks. I am polite but I tell the truth, and since the truth convicts people? Ah well, never mind. I apologise if that offends your English sensibilities - grow a spine and learn to cut through all the mind games, and our country will be more respected.

Not a big RW fan, but thought it was a good way to bring in the New Year. Must agree though with a couple of comments regarding the camerawork which in parts was shoddy. As for the display itself it was good, but wish they would broaden the area of them, as no matter what they try it is getting a tad "samey" to me....

Anyway, hope everyone had a blast and their 2017 started off well and truly awesome....

Yes I really can be, I do not refute that, but the minor spelling error kinda knocked the little wind there was out of your attempt to rile me. (Ever so slight irony detected.)

Nice going, keep at it! I'll be handing out gold stars at the end of the month

The presenter was absolutely awful. Monotone mumbling his way through the introduction.

Singing songs no one has heard of. (Well I haven't heard of anyway)

How did he get this album promotion? Not very good lead in to the fireworks.
We were at a party and had to suffer the tw*t when the tv got turned on ten minutes before midnight.
