With Abba, Gem (Spice Girls), Steps all coming back there could be serious competitions in the charts.

In their reunion show it was noted they used to rely heavily on tv since "they were rarely on radio". These days not only are there few variety shows for musical acts, they cant use the teen shows they used to be on either. Promo may be tough.

Cool
I'm not a Steps fan myself, but I liked Say You'll Be Mine and their cover of Better The Devil You Know. How did everyone know it at primary school? I listen to a lot of 90s music too, but not all cheesy pop (unless I'm feeling nostalgic). I listen to stuff like Baby One More Time-era Britney, Spice Girls, some 90s dance and some classic R&B. I guess any chart success they could have now depends on the type of music they release. If it's still 90s-style cheesy pop I can't see it lasting.I spent a lot of my childhood in New Zealand where 5,6,7,8 was a much bigger hit and had better chart success (along with the Aussie charts - it got to #1 there!) compared to the UK. I'm talking when I was quite young though, so probably 2003/4, I think the older kids use to sing it a lot and then it just stuck for some weird reason. My favourite Steps song is One for the Sorrow I do like Steps cover of BTDYK but still not a patch on Kylie's original ![]() Your absolutely right, they are going to have to release material that is relevant, that will attract the younger generation or at least keep their original fans from the 90s. I'm not saying they are going to have a #1 album etc but I do reckon they stand a better chance than other groups of that era such as S Club 7. However I could all be wrong and they may not even make the top 40... |

If Steps released an album and it cracked the Top 40 I'd be happy for them.
I can't see them releasing a single and it peaking all that highly on the charts but with streaming as it is at the moment, who knows? Loved them when I was younger and I hope they do well again; it's time we had some fun back in the charts-I don't know if I'm alone in thinking this but some songs are depressing these days! |

They need to be clever with this one. Most people felt Light Up The World was a bit rushed and done on the cheap side compared to their other albums. It wasn't only Christmas songs though and songs like Overjoyed could easily be the style they go for now. The song Light Up The World was OK, the voices just needed to be blended a bit better.
I think an album could do well, singles nowadays are often a lost cause. I hope by mature they don't mean an album full of When I Said Goodbyes. As I said Overjoyed was a good direction to head in. |

^^Wasnt that a self funded album effort or am I mistaken? This time around they have Fascination managing them at least so hopefully they get more support all around. I'm glad that after that album whatever it was, they decided to push ahead again.
More Deeper Shade of Blues please. Upbeat tempo tunes + depressing lyrics = great Pop songs |
