While Sky will have built the functionality into the software, it won't be them that enabled it for the programming - that will have been the BBC. As to why they did it, I don't know - I recorded it just fine on Sky HD.

Oh and Happy New Year!

I reckon it won't be long before Sky start offering advertisers a premium option of having adverts that can't be skipped. It's been tested in the past and it works.

Yes this is already happening on some other platforms. But I'm not sure Sky will want to let that genie out of the bottle. Making customers sit through adverts they've previously been able to skip will give them another reason to question the value of the ~£100 a month they spend on Sky. It would be inarguably bad for the overall customer experience, and I doubt the net gains in advertising revenue will be worthy of potentially driving up churn and reduced audiences.

Recording ability for any prohramme is down to the correct EPG data/flags being present in the data transmitted and this is provided by the broadcaster (in this case the BBC) and NOT down to Sky. Your problem was either a glitch in your system or a problem with the BBCs EPG data. Which region of BBC HD was it? I recorded the English region on a Sky+ HD box with no problems.

Why did you just not press the record button and watch it at the same time. You could pause and rewind at will, when you watched it back later.

Iam in the South West but this was on BBC one HD i don`t think it was my box that was glitched as i turned over to BBC 2 and that was fine.

Not really sure whey it happened but it was just interesting at the time.

I don't use internet on my phone any more because of advertising - it's unwatchable and I note the advertisers and actively avoid their products.

It's becoming difficult on a computer screen too with adblockers being blocked - killing the goose - sky might like to take note.

This happens to me when I have tried to rewind the red screen when the local news is playing

That is because there is no valid EPG data to allow it,

I disagree. Sky offers many 'must see' adverts, and making customers sit through them is a great idea!

Agreed. I'd certainly cancel if they did this.
