Please tell me her TV show cameras are still following her?

This has been a highlight of 2016!

OMG

She can probably just get away with claiming there was a fault for Emotions but she is quite clearly, and very badly, miming We Belong Together. There was no fault there other than her terrible attempt at covering it up.

How embarrassing for her. I agree with a previous poster. Its almost like she is in denial about her voice not being what it was but trying to fool people like this makes her look deranged. She is at risk of ruining her legacy.

The thing I find bizarre is that she is actually miming to the studio versions of her songs before it cut out on her. Her voice just doesn't sound like that anymore.
Er, that's probably why she was miming...!

It's hard to defend her.
It seems to be a case of somebody who takes their celebrity for granted.
I can assure you that if it was someone who was on their way up wanting to become a known name there's no way that they would dare let an audience down like the way Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber do.

I can't say that it will damage her because it's been shown that there's enough mug punters around who will still come back for more and worship people like this even if they don't deserve it.

I'm glad it went wrong for her, awful woman. Needs to get over herself.

I went to her show at the O2 last year. She sounded good. She sang live. She can still sing. There are plenty of videos of her singing live from 2016. However people will pick on one bad performance and hang on to it.

Walk off the stage on New Year Eve event, how very unprofessional.

She's always been a diva though.

I think her career is over, apart from at christmas when 'all i want for christmas is you' will enter the charts. She's more known for her relationships and attention seeking photoshopped selfies now.

I get that but why fool everyone by trying to pretend she still sounds the same now as she did 25 years ago? she should embrace her voice change and adapt new music accordingly. This whole miming act is making her a joke and throwing temper tantrums when you are caught it for out on live TV isn't really the way to behave.

Mariah is fast morphing into Joan Crawford.

Total embarrassment.
A "Singer" gets pissed off because the instrumental version of her song accidentally gets played, and she cannot mime.
No shame whatsoever.

This was a PR stunt.

Mariah herself said something along the lines of "heres to making headlines in 2017"

very clever making it look accidental.

Mariah is one of these celebs who are big enough to get away with it. she doesn't care if she looks bad, she only cares for the publicity.

I've never liked Mariah Carey.

Vastly overrated.

By a billion miles.

And her voice is just terrible.
I totally agree and she is way too big to wear those skimpy costumes these days

Total mess. A diva who cannot back it up with talent. So she doesent know the words to her song? what a joke! No doubt she will lay the blame elsewhere but...

Sorry but that is really stupid, in the case of a performer all publicity is not always good. She's made herself look a joke!

I agree. If this is a PR stunt then all it's done is make her a laughing stock.
And I don't think she is a big enough name these days to get away with it. She's not had a big hit in years and most younger people would only know her Christmas song anyway.

When you say she walked off stage, she had completed the set. She was only doing three songs, We Belong Together being the last one. There were obviously difficulties for her in terms of the in ears not working so not being able to hear the key she was singing in, and probably with all of the noise very little of the track anyway. When it got to WBT, she had given up and even acknowledged before it started it was going to be mimed.

That said, she's a woman with 26 years experience. She should know to turn around and tell them to cut the music out, apologise for the tech issues and performed the Vegas version of Thank God I Found You acapella (pretty much how it's performed in Vegas anyway) or another song acapella and then mimed We Belong Together.

I feel sorry for her but she brings a lot of it on herself. She needs to put the wine and champagne down, pick her microphone up and rehearse, rehearse, rehearse.

But is it the end of her career? I very much doubt it

To me it seeemd quite obvious - inner ear monitors and external monitors not working, she straight away asked for them to start. She mimed parts to we don't be long in the hope of something working, it didn't. She clearly was like 'whatever, shit happens, just smile, have fun and get out of there. She didn't even want to engage with the choreography. You can't sing if you cant hear your self or the music.

Apparently she complained several times to the TV producers saying that her in-ears weren't working properly. She was using them during her interview with Ryan Seacrest and went into the production truck to say they weren't working (and said in the interview that she could barely hear him). They were apparently told on stage, the frequency was different so when she went on stage, it would be fine.

Mariah, notoriously late, went up to stage early to prepare knowing there was issues with the in-ears. She had her mic pack changed to see if it would fix the issue and repeatedly complained to producers that they were not working. When she was in a holding tent by the stage, she was told the tent was muffling the sound and not to worry about it.

It also didn't help that her dancer, for some unknown reason, tucked one of the in-ears into her dress and she then couldn't find it.

Basically, Mariah's camp on major damage limitation.

But she doesn't seem to care if she looks silly. That's my whole point. So in her case any bad publicity is good.

What's the worse that could happen to her, her career's already non exsistent.

Least she gets her name in the press.

I think non-existent is stretching it a little. People with non-existent careers don't get picked to headline one of the highest rated television events of the year.

It's funny in all the daily mail pics she's smiling even if she looks a bit frustrated.

I think she needs better management personaly but she hasn't had good management in years

What key should a person "mime" in

Don't see what the fuss is about?! Do people really expect Mariah to sing live?
She has form for botched lip syncing performances.

My point being when the lip sync track failed to work, she couldn't hear the music to then go on and sing it live.

Yep. She could have walked off simply because the earpiece wasn't feeding her the music from the track that she was supposed to sing. I don't know if she mimes or sings though.

A Christmas song that is 25 years old.
We're subjected to that noise from Slade every year and that's over forty years old.
