What would you say if you could talk to yourself at 12 years old?

Dump immediately any girl who wants to share your chips.

That probably leaves none. But if there are any left, dump them.

Try harder at French. You will need a pass.

Spend more time on your homework

Don't mess about in class trying to impress people.

Try and be less shy and more thick skinned.

Talk more to your dad while you can. Find out all about him and his family.

Same with your mom and also your grandparents

Most of these are more relevant to me of 15 than 12.

One that I just saw and loved,

Keep up with the piano, it will be a regret of yours that you didn't go as far as you could

As soon as you are able travel more, especially when you get to University, get a Rail Card and see more of Europe. Working at the Aldi all Summer for the pittance you get is now worth it

Lose the glasses and get contact lenses sooner.

Go to a few more School Discos rather than stay at home and watch TV

Keep a better watch on the joint-account

The guy who just wants to be a friend, will prove to be the worst guy you've ever met

That purple dress is horrible and you will just burn every photo of you in it

Crack on mate, you're doing well, keep it up.

However, here are a few bits of advice to help minimise the regrets you'll feel later on:

Play golf now. Get lessons and get out on the proper full size course rather than occasionally messing around at the local pitch and putt. When you're in your late 20s, you'll want to take it up properly and will be miles behind most of the guys you'll play with in terms of ability, because they played when they were kids. You're at the right age now to learn the game properly, it'll be much harder when you're older.

In about four years, Julia Clarke will ask you out. You'll say no because she isn't one of the "cool" girls and you'll be scared of what people will think of you. You're a tit for not saying yes. She will go on to be an absolute stunner who most of the guys your age would give their right arm to go out with. Don't say no.

Your hair in curtains looks bloody ridiculous, even though it's fashionable now. Get rid.
