I initially posted this in Showbiz but I thought it was more suitable here. A thread to discuss all things British comedy from stand-up to sitcoms. Who are your favourite stand-up comedians? I like Tim Vine, Romesh Ranganathan, Joe Lycett and Milton Jones.

I enjoy panel shows such as QI, Mock the Week and Would I Lie to You?.

I love WILTY. Especially when Bob Mortimer is on it.

Anything that doesn't have Ross Noble in it, I can't bear him.

I find Romesh Ranganathan, Milton Jones unfunny and over rated.

Michael McIntyre is great, top of his game, Tim Vine is funny. Lee Mack good.

There isn't that many all rounded entertainers anymore.

Only the second reply and we already have the obligatory "I can't stand X and never watch anything with him/her in it". Seriously, what is the point? How does that "add to the discussion"?

I've been a fan of Frank Skinner since the early 90's.I've been lucky enough to see him live a few times. As far as sitcoms go i'm a fan of Dad's Army & Porridge.

"We do beg your pardon, but we are in your garden!"

His stories on that show are the best.

I love Ken Dodd. Despite being in his 90s he is still performing shows.

I also love Michael McIntrye

I'd seriously recommend trying the Do the right thing podcast. One of the best panel shows not to have made it to TV/Radio (yet)

The funniest British comedy I have ever seen was Ideal. Superbly written and acted but probably too druggy to get its well deserved Bafta.

Big fan of Kevin Bridges (with subtitles ). How anyone can hold a huge audience like that for an hour on his own without any prompt is beyond me.

I watched Tim Vine's new one on boxing day with my mum. So funny and ever since I keep envisioning Tim singing 'What does he mean by that?' at opportune moments.

I'm a huge comedy fan. Mainly I run a David Mitchell fan group which I'm now shamelessly going to plug: https://www.instagram.com/a_dose_of_david_mitchell/ and I go to a lot of TV show recordings particularly if they have David Mitchell or Harry Hill in them. Most recently I saw a Harry Hill pilot 'Life On Egg' which will be on radio4 on the 7th which I thought was absolutely fantastic.

I miss Harry Hill's TV Burp which is, in my view, one of the strongest comedy shows we've had this century. It's a shame it'll never be coming back - Harry has clearly put behind him.

He's got a new panel show coming up on ITV this year though called 'Alien Fun Capsule': http://www.itv.com/presscentre/press...en-fun-capsule

I have enjoyed British comedy since the radio days of The Goons, Take it From Here, and The Navy Lark, while the earliest Tv stuff I can remember is It's A Square World and a show starring (what must have been a very young) David Jason and Denise Coffey. Most comedians get a trial in our house, though sometimes after MrsJ has retired (no sense of humour) even if I don't like their styles.

Do Not Adjust Your Set !

it also involved most of what became the Monty Python team so very influential for a kid's TV show

Adam Hills and Dara O'Briain are my favourites stand ups but I do like Russell Howard and Michael McIntyre.

Comedy wise, I discovered Clare in the Community which is on Radio 4 and it's hilarious, Cabin Pressure is also very good. My tastes range from broad comedy like Big Bang Theory to political satire like The Thick of It.

OOoh yes, I love it too - and usually end up laughing at all of them.

I love Joe Lycett's letter stories. Particularly the time he once tried to get out of a parking fine: https://youtu.be/2Gkiw7zpULo
