For the first time in his life, my dad has got a tax rebate
He logged into his on-line banking to send some money to a relative, noted that a substantial amount had been added to his account from "HMRC." - Dad completed the Self assessment on line on 23/12/16 as did mum and myself.

When we heard about this, mum logged in and noted a rebate from HMRC, not as large an amount as dad, but more than 500 and less than 1k and she too is really happy as any unexpected money is good news

I then checked my banking account - good news but not as good as mum's, but close to 200 is not to be sniffed at

Actually it's a first for dad as I said earlier, a first for mum and me.

We all pay our tax bill as soon as we complete our on-line tax returns.

My dad said the rebates are most likely due to the previous years self assessment completion not producing the expected retruns, EG dad and mum had one property they rent out left empty during a substantial refurbishment.

My tax return I guess is based on me taking couple of months of unpaid leave last year when I went to the usa with mum and dad

So check your on-line bak details especially if you have completed your self-assessment on-line during the last week or so..

Any money recieved that one did not expect is always good news

Good luck and HNY

If you are going to start trolling threads, you should maybe do a bit of research and make they factually correct.

I've just checked it and they've given me enough to take early retirement and move to the Bahamas.

Thanks OP

So this money went into your bank on a weekend, a bank holiday weekend at that? Odd.

I've just checked it and they've given me enough money to take up smoking and buy a push bike.

Too lazy?

There wouldn't have been any refund. She states they paid the bill after they did the online self assesment. The bill generates after you have done that so unless they are all thick and paid hundreds above the amount on the bill there wouldn't have been an overpayment to be returned

Oh and why does princess need to do self assessments when she is employed
I wonder, if she states its because she has buy to lets or whatever she/he is going to come up with, taking time out to go on holiday wouldn't affect that unless of course she turfed all the tenants out before she went

0/10 princess, please see daddy he needs to tell you to try harder

I will respond to your rudeness out of courtsey. Money is in the account and can be accessed 3/1/17. Now if you still don't believe me, I honestly could not care less and that is a fact.

No worries!

It's the unexpected bit that really excites me. My dad's refund, he and mum could easily make a nice little holiday in LA.

Seems a little dubious the reasons for completing a self assessment, " 2 months in the USA" Think we have a Waltrina in our midst

Your prerogative. However, I would not recommend smoking or riding a bike.

I will respond to your rudeness out of courtesy also.

If money was paid directly into your account it can be accessed at any time, unless it's a cheque clearing which, as we all know, takes a certain number of days to become available, shows on your bank balance but not on your available balance.

Nowhere did I say I didn't believe you, you in your 'wisdom' assumed that - I asked a simple question and you replied rudely, but there's no surprise there. No need to be a princess about it

Happy New Year to you.

I've just checked mine and I've got enough to outbid you. Sorry.

But I will let you have a sub forum for an extortionate monthly payment.

Money can be programmed to appear on your account on any date the sender chooses. It happens to me all the time

Odd that when I got a rebate they notified me by post first and saying it would be in my account within the next four weeks so how come it was different for you and so speedy at that?

I think all the tax rebates I have received have come as cheques - never straight into my bank account.

PAYE ones usually do but with self assessment you have the option of cheque or paid directly into your account.

I don't need to prove anyhting but one poster here and I do not mean you appears to have incited others to doubt what I have said.

For the record, it is up to you to beleive what you want to beleive, but hopefully, someone else here has exeperience a tax rebate over the weekend, possibly this weekend or another weekend having complted an online self assessmsnet, /when you complete an online self assessment they awlaus asky you for a "bank account that you want the hmrc to return any refunds," and that is a fact.
My mum actually did say to my dad, "it is the weekend - without going back into my account, not sure when it arrived but the clear fact is that it is accessible from 3/1/17.

Again your choice to beleive or not but as I'm a courstey person I thought I'd respond to you and expand on the fact

I don't really think anyone else cares much, to be honest.

The main thing is that you, Mummy and Daddy now have this nice little financial cushion to help see you all through the lean and arduous weeks of January till your next paydays and you won't have to rely on the charity of friends and family.

Your comments give the impression you're tying to justify your initial thread, rather than "expand" on facts
