I've just checked mine and I've got enough to outbid you. Sorry.

But I will let you have a sub forum for an extortionate monthly payment.
Nah, I'll go and buy sleeping dogs instead. they haven't complained about me for a while so i'll have to get them to buck their ideas up ..

I don't need to prove anyhting but one poster here and I do not mean you appears to have incited others to doubt what I have said.

For the record, it is up to you to beleive what you want to beleive, but hopefully, someone else here has exeperience a tax rebate over the weekend, possibly this weekend or another weekend having complted an online self assessmsnet, /when you complete an online self assessment they awlaus asky you for a "bank account that you want the hmrc to return any refunds," and that is a fact.
My mum actually did say to my dad, "it is the weekend - without going back into my account, not sure when it arrived but the clear fact is that it is accessible from 3/1/17.

Again your choice to beleive or not but as I'm a courstey person I thought I'd respond to you and expand on the fact

So you got paid on a weekend... a bank holiday weekend...?

What utter nonsense you talk.

My account hasn't changed at all - just my wages paid in on the 20th as usual!

Thank you for your post as it is more difficult to get many self-assessment tax payers here. However, and I hope I'm right and many have on line bank accounts and blow your statment out fo the water.

Btw, today is Sunday and tomorrow is a BH, if you have money in the bank and online, just pay yourself and if in premier banking, don't know re others, you will see the payment almost immdeiate but funds may not be alwauvle unitl 3/1/17.

I was just chatting to another sister of mine, she was busy along with her husband filling out their hmrc self assessment and i told her re our good news. They have their fingers crossed and hoping for some of the same.

This self-assessment, easy to complete and very impressed by their refund and the speed in which they did this

Why have you created a thread telling people to check their bank RIGHT NOW and then when people open it there's no reason for us to check our bank accounts as this situation is unique to your dad.

Looking forward to the spelling and grammar highlights though.

It was extremely kind of you to give your permission the first time around, let alone twice. I shall not though, as it is against forum rules to point out spelling errors. Unlike some, I'd rather keep my posting privileges.

For the first time in his life, my dad has got a tax rebate

He logged into his on-line banking to send some money to a relative, noted that a substantial amount had been added to his account from "HMRC." - Dad completed the Self assessment on line on 23/12/16 as did mum and myself.
A week to check, verify and then issue a rebate over a holiday period.

HMRC are never that quick.

I got a letter mid December with a £100 fine for failing to file my tax returns on time. They were filed in November, electronically, even though the deadline is 31st January. My accountant has informed them of their error but I've still to hear from HMRC.

Well, HMRC will use BACS not FP. But nice try.

Even dad was surprised, then even more surprised re mum and me. Mum and dad usally pay tax in advance as well as they cross the 1k other income/profit limit but I don't - it was superfast and a big surprise, pleasant surprise

This is the exact reason me, dad and mum all do the self assessment ets ourselves, Every year it gets easier as we get more used to the system. Every year we pay over the xmas hols and pay the tax due imddeately via debit card and mum and dad pay for the 6 months in advance as as their profits are well oer the 1k limit

Thanks

HMRC are never that quick.

From last year confirms "the majority of on-line tax refunds within a couple of weeks."

So this money went into your bank on a weekend, a bank holiday weekend at that? Odd.

What about the Inland Revenue "special" prioritising and lightening speed over the Christmas holidays? Self assessments submitted 23rd December, checked verified and over-payments all repaid to one household at the same time by and on Jan 1st?
Santa's little elves have been exceptionally busy or could it be it a truly intoxicating festive miracle
Can a make believe Princess (or is it Prince) demand any old miracle? Whatever, it's made my new years day quite special.

Whenever the government gives me money back (tax refund, unused road fund licence, etc) they always post me a cheque and I have to take it to the bank. That was alright when I lived in a small market town with half a dozen banks on the main street, but now I live in a major city it's a half hour journey each way to the nearest bank, and it costs me a few quid in either parking charges or bus fares.
