I think when Princess goes on a night out, she goes to the pub on the estate, you know one of those pubs that has a flat roof.

Does anyone know when the kids go back to school?

"I was told on the phone a few days ago that there was "a 12 week backlog". In my experience I would get a response to written correspondence at around the 6 week mark. I believe the increase is due to priority being given to refunding overpaid tax to pension withdrawals under the new pension regime. "

Always best to read links you find.

It says on the self assessment website that if you pay by debit/credit card they will refund that way, you can also choose to enter bank details on the form.

However, it also says other things like it will calculate your bill and princess states this is what her parents have paid. So why did they pay too much? And why is it possible they have paid a lump sum for 6 months when the website states clearly payment options and that is not one.

If you are on paye I think they tend to issue refunds by cheque as they wouldnt have your card/bank details authorised to use

Clearly I'm referring to a self assessment on live for people that have incomes above 100k and/or rental property as dad/mum and I have
You will see the option re nominated bank account for automatic tax refunds but only if you are registered with on line self assessment

Thanks

My tax affairs are extremely simple.

I pay normal rate income tax and national insurance on my PAYE salary.

I receive a few benefits in kind from work so my tax free allowance is reduced accordingly.

And that is it .......

Oooh - don't forget your many sisters that you keep mentioning, they're all loaded and have many properties and have to do self assessments as well.

Fair enough. I paid my road fund licence by direct debit though, so don't know why they posted me a cheque for that.

Because they are pretty much useless is the answer to that one

I do remember being on holiday and remembering my tax was due, this was 2014 and just before they introduced direct debit. Was a nightmare trying to get to the right person to pay for it.

If I didn't have my car with me and a few hundred miles to drive home I would have just waited

Obviously not since HMRC use BACS.

Hi

Btw, as I have already stated earlier and to confirm, payments are in there from not sure when as I can't be bothered to log back in via scure systems, but all of our payments from HMRX clear on 3/1/17, ie mine, mum's and dads and we all completed our rets on the 23/24th Dec.

If you have no need to complete a self-assessment then I guess you won't know what is being discussed here. (HMRC self assessment requesries registration, activation and your UTR details inc passwrods and nat ins etc and usally completed by the working people that gross more than 100k, rential incomce, self employed, business, etc)
