Half empty or Half full

Which are you ?

I am definitely a misery guts and always see the glass as half empty.

I just don't have the mindset to be positive about anything, I wish I did.

Don't even have a glass

I like to be fairly neutral, but often veer off into the negative side of things. Then, on a day like yesterday, I'm walking the dogs and listening to birds singing and feeling quite blissful. Raining today, so I'm back to neutral again, so I think my moods are weather-dependent to an extent.

once you are past mid 20s then things can only get worse and worse

Heisenberg suggests we don't know if our glass is half-empty or half-full until we have opened the box it is being kept in.

Half-empty by default, but try to remind myself to be half-full when I get down.

Very half-empty here. Actually, more like quarter full I think.

The toll of life with open eyes and critical reasoning has made me very cynical.

Plus, another life-lesson was learning to always anticipate the worst. Then you can work up options and what ifs to help deal with it ahead of time, and approach any situation with your eyes open instead of closed. That has a positive side because it leaves the door open to be pleasant surprised Which is a way better state of mind for me than a blind "lah lah lah, everything will be fine" - then it isn't - and it comes as a huge shock. One that could be foreseen with some healthy pessimism.

In the work place I find it's the folk with glasses so full they are overflowing whom make all the mistakes.

Another application would be to never get into something that you don't have a way out of! This also requires a mind set of expecting the worst.

Nonsense, it's a design margin - you wouldn't want a glass where the liquid comes all the way to the top now would you?

Half full or as close to it as possible. I do feel like 2017 will be an over-flowing year

I've always had the theory that in order to be half empty the container has to have been full and then half the content emptied out... so I assume it has been consumed... Half full I take to imply that it has only been half filled at it's highest point, implying that's all you are getting mate.

My conclusion... it's better to have half drunk a full pint and still have have half left than to only ever had just a half... those who assume the half empty types are pessimistic and gloomy have it totally wrong.... half full types are simply settling for what they have been given.

If I'm buying, half empty. If I'm selling half full.

I am the same as you, always look at the negative side. However my OH is a glass half full thankfully so looks at things from the positive points.
