I found tuppence in the lift. I'll try not to spend it all at once. If I put it into my bank, it should clear within a month.

Hi

I earn enough to live on month by month and have a decent sum in life savings. Is it just me, but as you get older do you have less interest in spending it?

I've no interest in buying a house with more rooms than I need, or a car that gets up to 60 0.5 seconds quicker, or a jumper that costs anymore than say £30 just because its got a silly little brand logo on which most people don't even recognize anyway.

We have to ensure princessxxxxx's imaginary bank account has more in it than anyone else.

That's useful for those who drone on about their finances

I don't mind saying:

At this moment in time I have roughly £7.5k in bank accounts and cash. But then that includes this month's salary and I will owe whatever I spent on the credit cards last month. So realistically I will probably have around £5k the day before I get paid again. But then I should get a £1.5k bonus this month and (for the first time in ages) don't need it for anything, so that will bump up the balance.

Oh, but I just remembered that I still owe about £5k on my car loan. So that pretty much cancels out the savings (apart from the bonus - should I get it).

That doesn't seem very good for a single, childless guy in his mid 30s who doesn't really socialise that much or have expensive hobbies (apart from golf). I do have a hefty chunk of equity in my house now I suppose. . . . .

Actually, I got sacked because someone complained about me. I wasn't working hard enough and was claiming benefits.
