I'd let the washing machine go.

Wash by hand.

I'm not likely to die without any of my household appliances. It would be inconvenient at worst not to have a washing machine or fridge.

can't I just let them have the toaster?

I can live without the cooker. Nearly everything, from baked potatoes to desserts, can be made in a slow cooker

I think I'll keep the chest freezer, otherwise the ex-wife will begin to smell
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you're going to make me, I guess I will do without the toaster.

Of course this means I will have to learn to cook and not just toast my way out of every mealtime situation, but hey.

Washing Machine - wash by hand No problem
Fridge Freezer - possible but only if I went to the supermarket EVERY day for food to cook
Vacumn Cleaner - I don't have carpets so it's rarely used anyway except to hoover the dust off the sofa.
Cooker - Probably my most vital equipment unless I go out to eat or use the mircowave instead but that's the least practical of all options.

overall I wouldn't even notice losing the vacuum cleaner So I choose to lose that.

I would find life difficult without a fridge, but there was a time when very few people had them and had to manage as best they could.

I have known people who go ages without using a washing machine, or a launderette, or hand washing!

I lived happily without a vacuum cleaner or a freezer (save for the 'ice box' in the fridge) for nearly 10 years.

I could easily live without my electric oven as I only put it in because I had a new kitchen and managed prefectly well before with just a portable induction hob, a microwave and a halogen oven. I really miss not having a gas grill though, as cheese on toast takes far too long with an electric one and is very wasteful. I'm considering buying a paint stripping gun instead for that purpose.

Every time I see a TV chef making a crème brûlée or toasting a meringue with a standard DIY blowtorch I think, "Mmmm... carcinogenic combustion products!"

The iron.

I only ever use it for ironing shirts to attend weddings, funerals or job interviews.

My washing machine broke last week and I can't afford to replace it until the end of the month. It's incredibly annoying. Hand washing is fine but it's time consuming and clothes take longer to dry.

My nan never owned a washing machine and had 3 sons. She survived so i'm sure I will.
