Well, that was a complete waste of an entire plot.

Mary's search for her lost child could have been very touching and sad. Instead, we get one comedy scene where they meet twins, then her son turns up and after knowing her for a day he offers to take her away to South Africa, then she goes, then she chickens out and he is (off screen) fine with it and buggers off.

WHAT WAS THE POINT??

Hypothetically speaking Mary has about £5000 to throw down the drain. (What's her job again?) Booking a flight to SA 2 days before and at this time of year would easily cost that, I'm sure....

what a waste of a story! Unless there is more to this plot...I was actually convinced Mary's exit was been kept under wraps

Exactly! - I remember when plots were believable and allowed to build up over a normal time-span thus generating interest and suspense....

What with this and the continual introduction of new characters, it's starting to look like a quick-fire sketch show - think I'll be giving up on it soon

I'd like to see Dennis Tanner back. The way Blackburn got rid of an iconic character was disgraceful
