EE: 11 years ago yesterday, Dennis Rickman was murdered...
...less than a few months after he married Sharon, and just a week or so after discovering she was pregnant with his child.
Does anyone here wish that instead of being killed, he and Sharon had fled to the US before this could happen? That New Year's Eve was upbeat - nothing more, nothing less? On a negative note, had Dennis lived, this would make 'Get Johnny' week a pointless waste of scripts and filming. On a positive note, it would save the lives of Jake and Danny Moon - and perhaps also result in Sharon returning with Vicki for Pauline's funeral, more than a year later. What do you think? |

I remember hoping that they both escaped. Really sad episode and blooming frustrating ending. Doesn't feel like 11 years!

I can't believe it's been 11 years already! Dennis was probably my favourite Eastenders character of all time, it was awful how he died. But I think the actor wanted to be killed off, I remember hearing that a few years ago.

I was a massive Shannis shipper back then so i was gutted that they didn't get thier happy ending. I loved their relationship and there was an undeniable chemistry.
Dennis was, and still to this day, was my favourite character. One of the best male creations ever from EE. There hasn't quite been a character like him since. |

Now this was a huge mistake but I think Nigel Harman didn't wish to return.
Dennis an incredible character. He really made up for Den's disappointing comeback. He was one of the best aspects of that era. Louise Berridge introduced some good characters in her time, despite the flak she got. Him, Tiffany, Pat and Ronnie and Roxy were all killed off on NY episodes. |

Yes and now Ma Mitchell knowing the pivotal role King Weeble played in his death whines that she is 'nothing' without the Philth.
Which proves once again that every and any character (no matter how important to the history of the show) is totally destroyed by TPTB as soon as they come within a mile of the rancid old compost heap. |

Dennis was a better character and a bigger loss to the show in 2 years than Roxy was in 10.

No point in dwelling in the past nothing to be gained at all.
