I thought the episode was trash, but the ending was great, one of the better endings, much better than anything DTC or Birkwood did.

I enjoyed the scene at the hospital with Ronnie, Roxy and Phil - all the cousins together for the last time. Sad the Mitchell sisters are gone but it was a very powerful episode.

Not often we disagree but I thought it was an excellent ending.

People die by drowning all the time often in preposterous ways, especially if they have had a drink.

I thought that the episode was beautifully made.

The main annoyances of SOCs era is that Les, Pam and soon Lee will all be leaving but the Excrement of Philth is still alive - and Ma Mitchell is simply an even bigger doormat than before.

'I'm nothing without him!'

Pathetic.

I still think there will be a twist tomorrow.

Simply fantastic and a tragic ending for two great characters. I particularly had a soft spot for Roxy but it felt like the right time for her to leave.

However, as a double murdress and baby swapper among other things, I think that Ronnie was a spent force and SOC was right to axe her. It felt natural that Roxy went with her.

Great episode, 10/10.”

I loved it. Goodbye to R & R

They have been written into the ground and their stories were extremely repetitive but in what soap world would you kill them off and leave Jack and Lauren Branning standing? 😕

The episode was great but the ending was was awful. It felt very Hollyoaks.

If Masood and the Cokers were deemed worthy of Julia's Themes how do Roxy and Ronnie not?

Also, I think it was so refreshing to see characters killed off in a genuine accident - something which could happen to any one of us in the wrong circumstances.

No complex web of 'revenge', no whodunnit, just a simple and tragic accident that is all too rare in soaps these days when stories are twisted and distorted in the hope of squeezing every drop of 'drama' out of them.

This was something very different and much needed.

A new era for EastEnders.

The Mitchell sisters were well past their sell by date, and should have been killed off or axed when Archie was killed. They just rinse and repeat their story lines.

It felt like Final Destination! Maybe Jack gets taken out by an anvil!

Plenty of places still to go with Roxy, for one maybe giving her a stable relationship with someone who wasn't an ass hole and the insecurities she'd likely have because of that. Ronnie, yeah sure send her off for another break.

I loved it.

Beautifully shot, so nostalgic and stylish.

And no tacky contrived rubbish. Just a genuine accent.

They CAN'T let 1 live, If they leave Ronnie dead and Roxy alive everyone would be thinking "Ronnie should be here at this moment" or if it was Roxy left for dead everyone would think "Roxy should be at this moment with Ronnie" they either live or die and I don't see a twist where they both live happening tomorrow.

I thought it was pretty poor really. I think the people saying it was amazing and giving it a 10/10 is pure hyperbole. I think those people have just been caught in the moment. Everything about it was pretty ridiculous, especially with the clock ticking to midnight.

Flashy camera angles, shaky camera, it just didn't feel like Eastenders to me. It felt like something DTC would come up with towards the end of his time with the show.

We've had so many artsy silent endings over the years. This is not a SOCk invention.

Because something can or has happened does not justify it as an EastEnders storyline as their use of the Darwin case to explain Kathy's resurrection did not work either.

Clunky stylised nonsense!

Eh ? there was a ton of contrived rubbish. So much of the episode was full of it.

Exactly.

I think the writing was atrocious. But I can appreciate that the director and editor spun sht into gold and made something visually beautiful. But that's all it was, flash in the pan.

I thought it was really good, both in their fate (fitting end for them) and execution.

I loved the dancing, the reference to their introduction promo, the fairytale metaphor and the fact is, people can and do drown in swimming pools (it's why hotels close them after certain times and usually ban lone swimming), especially if under the influence of drink or drugs and clothing can weigh you down and impede your limbs from working properly to swim.

I know there will be fans who think it is the wrong thing to do, that's understandable if they are favourites, and future producers may well resent that they can't return, but I think it is a good call.

Of course they could have had one live and one die. Roxy was just fine after Ronnie's departure.

Instead they opted for an "iconic" ending but at a very unnecessary cost to the show. O'Connor was clearly determined that they would never ever return.
