So? I have never seen the BBC state it has to be neutral and impartial concerning the EU and Brexit. They are entitled to be partisan on the issue and have been.

I wondered what the creaking sound was. Turns out it's all those knees being jerked at the very idea that the BBC should be involved in a research programme funded by the EU.

How very dare the EU spend money in this country! They should be spending it somewhere else so that the moaners could have even more to moan about.

Still, if Bridgen had his way, I'm sure that Rupert Murdoch would be only too happy to take over even more of the media than he already owns.

Old news regurgitated.

Do you think it only takes a few million over a few years to buy editorial control of a broadcaster?

You are aware that many companies recive EU grants and in this case it is for research and development. Nothing whatsoever to do with editorial or actual programme making.

The BBC, along with all UK news broadcasters, have to adhere to impartiality guidelines.

No UK news broadcaster can be partisan by law.

Overall, both BBC News and Sky News do a very good job and the bias is invariably in the eye of the partisan beholder. If you want a really rubbish channel then look no further than the propaganda outlet that is Russia Today.

Memo to all anti Sky News and BBC News whingers - stop whining and get a life.

More right-wing rubbish to be dumped straight over the side, Auntie. They are scraping the bottom of their bucket of prejudice.

No time to end pointless threads especially when the source is the joke of a newspaper Daily Express.

The story in the OP is just the standard anti-BBC muck raking over nothing that we get from certain tabloids.

The BBC certainly is biased though, demonstrably so through academic research. Its clearly very pro the current Tory administration and very anti labour/corybn.

Anyone who was watching the EU referendum results show post Sunderland must have thought they were watching a funeral broadcast. Surprised they didn't all have a wardrobe change during a news break and come back wearing black. When it was announced leave had won Laura Kuenssberg was almost in tears and it was negative from then on - the first reaction coming from Emily Thornberry.

The BBC may try to be impartial but the liberal pro EU London centric bias of most of its presenters bar Andrew Neil just shines through

The Express? Lol
And an OP questioning impartiality using the Express as a source? Even funnier.

Lol? Are you 12?

Go ahead and find me a document that proves the opposite to this article. It's rather pathetic stating "Express: mega-lolz" without anything to add to the conversation. All in all, a totally pointless post.

There is nothing to disprove. It is no secret that the research and development department of the BBC recives EU funding.

Do you belive that a drop in the ocean amount over a few years to the BBC R&D department buys editorial control of a national broadcaster's entire news and political output?

Very much so, it's like the Express "We're going to freeze to death in 6 months of the coldest winter ever" story, it's one of their "we can't be bothered with the news, grab something from the made up pile so we can go home early" stories.

It's been one of their headlines at least once or twice a year for several years.

But surely the Express is totally impartial and in no way is it a rival news organisation.
And its a base lie to say that it is a financial backer of UKIP. Some wicked people might even call it UKIPs mouthpiece.

To see the establishment pulling down the establishment supporting BBC is odd.

Surely Labour won't mind seeing the back of the BBC. (However New Labour would have been aghast)

Is this the new year comedy forum?

Brexiter links the Daily Brexit in a "how dare the EU fund UK projects" rant.

It's almost as if it has given up being a newspaper and is now the official UKIP party newspaper / Brexit daily journal : even Farage must have been bewildered to have a supposed "national newspaper" promoting he and his party to this extent.

What's the argument here? An admission that research funding actually will dry up post-Brexit? If not, then surely the fact that some of the money is currently coming via the EU ought to be neutral, as it will simply be replaced with similar UK-sourced grants?

I'm sure the BBC is more impartial than the rag you've linked to.

The Express is an even more disgusting paper than the daily mail, so forgive me if i immediately dismiss their propaganda as nonsense.
