It's a weird one. I really shouldn't have, but I ended up really enjoying BB17 despite myself. I really don't like the way the show is produced anymore, especially with there being so much manipulation and constant focus on negativity, but I still find the show very watchable if the people are interesting enough. So there is hope.
As for CBB, any thing that is an improvement on last Summer's woeful series with Bear will be very much welcomed. Many of the housemates were especially nasty - as indeed the series was - but as I said I stuck with it because of Deana. Switched off as soon as she was out though - and did not watch again the final because I had not interest then.

24/7 LIVE FEED.
NO nomination interference. Not much and something C5 should have employed from the beginning. |

I think I'd quite like it to end.
I almost feel like I want to stop watching but can't because I've watched every series since BB1 but it's just so fake, scripted and manipulated now. The CBB's now are the worst. They are already arguing after a couple of hours as it's screen time. I don't think BB could go back to Marjorie, or Nick writing notes or Helen liking blinking. I guess sooner or later I just need to admit it's not the show I used to watch |

I appreciate that I am a bit old fashioned but all I want to see is interaction between "normal" people - are at least as "normal" as you are likely to get given that this is Big Brother ! ![]()

I would like to see housemates who represent a wider age range than is often the case; who are able to speak intelligibly and at least reasonably intelligently and argue their case effectively when there are disputes. It would also be good if they had no intention of becoming part of a 'showmance' as those are always tedious.

Yes, for me civvy BB should be about Bricklayers, Shelf Stackers, Mechanics, Sales Reps, Office workers etc. Anyone who considers their career to be Showbiz, modelling, singing etc should try a bit harder on their careers, get famous and then enter CBB.

C5 endlessly disappoint. I agree with funkycub I want C5 to put the show out of it's misery now. edit ; missing word |

I understand that live feed is so expensive that every BB in the world has live feed, indeed most have multiple room live feed. Everything is being watched anyway (at least until the staff go home at 1am), there is no good why BBUK does not have 24/7 live feed, C5 show BBUK fans 45 minutes live feed a week, it really is pathetic.

I watch the show, I choose to watch the show. Yes, it's not the great show it used to be and I've come to terms with that because I can choose not to watch it, or choose to watch it - I make that choice. I'm old-school, I believe in the old rules - strict punishment, lengthy tasks, live feed, etc. but I know we aren't going to get it so I decide to watch it and accept it's limitations. Nobody forces me to - part of my enjoyment, admittedly, is the forum. I don't watch or enjoy Dr Who but I wouldn't suggest it be removed from TV because I don't like it! I just make the choice not to watch it, simple really. |

As I it was with live feed because as I remember it there used to be a delay before we saw it - and muted the sound every five minutes.
I get the impression you didn't watch much of the live feed from BB11 (the last on C4) which was an 24/7 internet feed with 5 hours overnight on E4. Because it was mostly an internet feed the same rules don't apply as those for broadcast television, as a result there was next to no cuts in sound, I watched 2-4 hours in the background most days, when I watched the sound dips were minimal and never caused me to get annoyed. |

I just make the choice not to watch it, simple really. Like you, I am old school with BB, I loved that show and still want so much for C5/Endemol to improve the show and make it worth watching again, I watched BBLB, BBBM, watched hours of live feed. I was crushed when C4 axed it and thought it was my only chance to see an eviction so I went and saw Ben evicted and enjoyed the experience. The reason I want C5 to axe it is, the longer it goes on the more damage is being done to the BB brand and when C5 axe BB which they will, it's return 10 years later is less likely because C5 keep damaging the brand, it will eventually be so toxic that no other broadcaster would consider picking it up. I don't want it axed to annoy people that watch, I would like it axed for BB's future. |

And the fact is that not enough people watch - and have not for some years - to warrant that expense. The reason most people don't watch it now is because there is no LF. You can't ''get to know HM's in a nightly 46 minute programme. The producers are also free to manipulate & show incidents out of context all they like. If you can see body language etc., even without sound, you can see a lot, without it you're lost. The reality of it is, the producers don't care about the long term ''fans'', they want casual viewers dipping in & out. Or that certainly was the case before Viacom bought the rights, not really sure what this lot want, apart from a quick buck. |

They are aiming the show at a different audience than the Channel 4 days, us old timers need not bother to stick around. It's clear from the housemates they've chosen this time that they are aiming for wall to wall conflict and I don't want to see that especially when it's not even real but manufactured for the cameras. What's the point?
It's not entertaining to me, I want to see genuine relationships and group dynamics, not made up nonsense. That's why I don't watch scripted reality shows, you might as well be watching regular drama, at least the acting is better. I'm only surprised that they haven't brought back Helen Wood and that annoying Irish bloke who I have blotted out of my memory. I watched half the launch show and that was enough. |

CBB and BB are unique in that they attract so many people who despise the programme and say they hardly ever watch it, yet love to post about how dire it has become and return time after time to discuss its direness, instead of just not watching or caring, as happens when people stop watching other long running shows.

I appreciate that I am a bit old fashioned but all I want to see is interaction between "normal" people - are at least as "normal" as you are likely to get given that this is Big Brother ! ![]() look at discovery channel... every show is now structured/set up "reality" scenes to act out or even pure fiction scripted - the channel used to be people building sheds. when BB launched, the "planning" was harder to see because there was the live feed. take out the live feed and you were left with the structured parts. the live feed rarely showed people who would be in the highlights and the "mass of tv hours" helped hide the fact the show was from the start a fully planned structured show. also when BB launched it was C4s show used to launch their new channel space. since then we have had lots of new channels... lots and lots of them... itv has itv2 and itvbe doing basically aiming at the structured/young/female market... and that is before E! and MTV etc are added in,.... or the hours of on demand via hayu the live feed is too expensive and too few people will watch.. when c5 tried it they had fewer viewers on 5usa than the 1000th rerun of an american cop show... why? because the people who would watch c4's live feed are now watching itv-be, itv2, myv, hayu etc which they did not have access to in the limited tv days of c4's 4music / e4 expansion. then you have the "career from a gimmick" reality star... they have replaced actors.. they can take lower pay because their outside the show activities can be plugged following product placement law changes.. daytime soaps died quickly in america as this 1/10th the price reality tv was as "good" as a cheap soap... people applying for BB have one big eye on being the next jade... and so you end up with bb & cbb full of people selling their act... that will never change now unless real actors become the same low price as reality people. so, to compete BB had to stick with the fashion of the day. it is down to the highlights show (which has always featured the expected preplanned moments from the chosen for their traits housemates and the tasks given that are likely to end up with predictable results)... and the utterly puerile & brain dead happy clappy camp act bit on the side... (where the panelists are often so small brained they clap themselves) it was always structured & planned, it even had sleep deprivation to cause fights... the only thing that has changed is there is so much reality tv people are more aware of it. the show is at it's core the same. the real question is why some people never saw that and think it's changed. |

Yeah, I lament the old C4 days, but I only really watch 3 programs regularly (don't have a telly and just watch the odd thing on the I/N) The Apprentice, Bargain Hunt and BB. If they take BB away I only have 2 I moan away with the rest of them every year, but I still watch - although it was hit and miss Helen Wood's year. Real torture to watch. Thank heavens for Chris R Wright and the other Chris that year. But still here, quite happy with this season's line up. |
