Eastenders: What happens to Matthew now?
I'm just wondering what will happen to Matthew?
I wonder if Charlie Cotton will come and get him? |

I'm hoping Charlie does return for him, even if it's only a brief appearance. Looking after a child that isn't even his own on top of dealing with his grief and own children, will probably be too much for Jack.

Charlie returning makes sense to me. He's Matthew's dad not Jack. He should come clean about what Ronnie and Vincent did and I'm sure Jack will understand. Dot is Charlie's grandma and Jack's stepmum so she could step in too to make things easier.
DTC ruined Charlie's character in 2015 and basically erased all trace of him. With SOC in charge there's nothing stopping him from bringing him back. |

Landing Jack with 3 kids on his own does seem a bit much. And it's EE, any devastation must have an extra kick, such as losing your wife and then the child you've been raising as yours disappears as well!
I'd be surprised if Declan Bennett made a reappearance but stranger things have happened! It may well happen offscreen. |

Him and Amy own number 27 now, perhaps he'll sell it and blow the money on drugs, taking after his aunty Roxy.

He should be reunited with his dad. I don't think any other outcome would be acceptable

Hopefully given to Charlie. It's his son. Hope Dot contacts him.

He will more than likely go and live with his father the way Heather Trott's little boy did when she died. Then Jack can go off and live in Ongar.

Either way it's not like they can keep it from him. |

The actor was axed so unlikely to return. They may do it offscreen. Does dot still have contact? Or if they want him to remain with jack they can make up jack adopted him offscreen with charlies consent. I get the feeling theyll want one less baby on set and just have glenda come take him to charlies offscreen with some tearful farewell from jack. But theyll prob wait a week or so to do that

For realism even if they cant have Charlie return they should have Dot bring Matthew to him off screen. But in EE the law is very loose so Jack may just "keep" him.

For guest appearances or full tome. Look at Honey and Charlie Slater. They returned despite getting axed. Probably a few others too. |

It's about time Matthew stood on his own two feet, packed his bags, and left.
Thanks. |

And what of Amy?
I'm not sure how the law would deal with a custody case like that one - the current carer has a history of knocking up women then running for the hills without paying a cent in maintenance, but is nevertheless Amy's biological father. On the other hand, her legal father has also done one, so the poor little girl could end up in care, unless an appropriate family member steps up. |

The most likely scenario is he will go to Charlie either in harrowing onscreen goodbye screens or he will be returned oto his Dead offscreen.
Least likely he will leave when Glenda does or go to his other grandmother if Charlie can't be found. Next to no chance he will stay with Jack for more than a few months as they cannot do stories with him due to his young age. Amy will remain with Jack end of or go with Glenda if he didn't want her. But he will want to keep Amy and there will be no challenge to him keeping her. |

If Roxy had a will, the estate will be divided as she wished after probate. Any bequests left by Roxy to Ronnie will be returned to estate and counted under the "remainder of my estate" clause of the will unless the will specifies that the bequest is of the "to my sister XXX and her descendants" type or that " should my sister predecease me, her child will inherit in her place" (the dead can not inherit). If both Ronnie and Roxy died intestate (i.e. without a valid will) after probate, all of Roxy's assets and personal property would be inherited by Amy. As Ronnie was married to Jack, the law says that Jack gets all her assets (including property), up to £250,000, as well as all her personal possessions (whatever their value). Any other assets above £250,000 would be divided with half going to Jack and the other half to Matthew (or if Ronnie had more than one living child, the other half would be split between the kids). If Ronnie and Jack had a joint bank account, that will not count as part of Ronnie's estate at all as it legally became Jack's alone when she died! Assuming Roxy does not have huge debts, Amy gets her half of number 27, and Ronnie's half is either split between Jack and Matthew or goes to Jack as part of the £250,000. It's also very likely that anything Amy inherits will go into a Trust for her and that Jack would manage it. |

Matthew and Amy will NOT automatically own 50% of the house each as Ronnie would have been legally intestate. A marriage invalidates any wills drawn up before it occurred. Any will Roxy left would be valid.

I really hope he goes to Charlie regardless. If need be have Dot take matthew to him off screen but Charlie should get custody as it was Ronnie who cut him off from Matthew because she was "bored" and was quite selfish. Surely as someone who got forced to give up a child, she should have not have made Charlie do that.
