Do recasts work?
What is everyone's opinions on the recasts in soaps?
There have been a lot in the last few years (to, in my opinion, varying degrees of success), and was wondering what people thought on which ones did and did not work. Here's my view on whether they did or didn't work. EASTENDERS Peter Beale - much better as Thomas Law. Ben Hardy is a wooden actor, and displays no emotion. How he landed a part in X-Men is beyond me. Ben Mitchell - Third time lucky. Tricky, for me, as I've never like the character, but whilst I didn't initially like him in the part, he now plays it better than Charlie Jones (pathetic), or Joshua Pascoe (arrogant) Lucy Beale - had nothing against Melissa Suffield, but Hetti Bywater did a good enough job. Neither here nor there. Lauren Branning - Jacqueline Jossa is brilliant. Michelle Fowler - As far as I'm concerned, Susan Tully is as iconic as the character itself. If Susan didn't want to come back, then leave alone. Can you imagine if Lacey Turner didn't want to come back as Stacey, and then gets recast? Martin Fowler - Was unsure at first, but now couldn't imagine James Alexandrou back in the role. CORRIE Nick Tilsley - Would've been interesting to see how Adam Rickett handled the storylines in the last few years, but Ben Price is really good in the role. NEIGHBOURS Libby Kennedy - Don't get me started Other people's thoughts? |
