Sam Womack is heart broken at the decision to kill of the Mitchell sisters

https://twitter.com/Sam_Womack/statu...64143294308352

'I'm sorry I can't respond to any comments..I'm honestly broken. An appropriate end to the darkest year ever.@OfficialRita @RealScottMaslen 💔 '

She obviously never wanted to go let alone in the way she did. Already can see this up there on the level of killing Pat off. ATROCIOUS

Ugh.

This happens to loads of soap actors every year, they get axed and I'm sure it's sad for them but it's just the way it is with soap.

Sam's left beforehand anyway and has had work before and during her two stints, she'll be fine. It's Rita that I'd feel sorry for.

I can see why she upset, she played her for near 10 years, big part of her life.

Legacy characters should NEVER EVER be killed off unless there was no dramatic alternative

There were a dozen dramatic and iconic endings that they could have gone with

THIS was the wrong one

Fatboy was heartbroken, she didn't care about that when she sent him to be crushed to death.

No one is bigger than the show.

It's been a big part of her career so ofc she'll be devastated.

I'm sure Sam will land on her feet though. Even when she returned to EE she took breaks to film other projects so I don't think she'll struggle for work. She's due to appear in a stage version of the Addams Family. Rita Simons has got a role in a musical version of Legally Blonde soon.

I agree with her. Killing Pat and Peggy not so much of a loss as they were older and limited in future stories, I haaven't really missed either.

But R&R had so much more to give. The deaths dont even make sense

A house can be BIG but its nothing without its foundations

They knocked out the foundations with PAT and Angie etc

Not content with it collapsing around their ears they've now knocked out the support walls as well

Soon it will be a pile of rubble

What does she mean, "sorry I can't respond to any comments"

I just have this feeling there's a twist tomorrow

This 100% but I've wished both her and Rita all the best

Bless her. I suppose it's best to go out with a bang rather than dwindle away.

tragic deaths happen all the time, if we want our soaps to at least attempt to mirror real life then sometimes we will lose characters unexpectedly and when we would prefer not to.

Of course the actors will be upset it is an avenue of work that is lost to them forever (unless you are Gillian Taylforth and the resurrection of Kathy )

A disgrace. She and Rita have been treated like shite.

Nothing in her tweet to indicate she didn't want to go or didn't want Ronnie to die the way she did. Yes she is heartbroken that Ronnie is dead - as I'm sure many an EE fan is (although I'm more heartbroken about Roxy) - you would be after living with the character for over a decade - but she quite clearly states that it WAS an appropriate end for Ronnie.

Ronnie was not a legacy character - Major character, yes - Iconic, probably - but Legacy, no - a legacy character in terms of soaps is a decendant of one of the major families (usually who we see grow up - like Lucy Beale)

I don't think there's anything twisty in it, she's just being DRAMATIC.

People lose their jobs every day, most just get on with it. Acting isn't exactly well known for job security.

From what I read the did not want to leave but were happy with the exit they were given - even Sam says as much in the tweet quoted at the top of the post
