Kitchen Appliances - Brand Recommendations
One of my new year resolutions is to finally get around to replacing my kitchen appliances. They're all way past their best and 10+ years old so time to ring in the new.
That's a combo washer/dryer, integrated dish washer, integrated fridge, integrated freezer and a stand alone electric oven (the existing separate hob can stay). What with hotpoint/indestit dryers burning houses down and Samsung washing machines exploding, I am literally a nervous wreck in terms of what brands to look at! It feels like the worst possible time to do this, but I've been putting it off too long already. I don't really want super-low end budget stuff (I believe in the phrase buy cheap buy twice!) but I can't afford super high end stuff either, so Smeg and the like are way out. So in the typical mid-range of well known, trusted reliable brands, what am I left with? I would really appreciate some tips and recommendations thank you very much & happy new year! |

I'd recommend taking out a trial sub to Which? for £1. You get access to all the online reviews: https://join.which.co.uk/join/next/9...6d29c395c6d4fc.

I moved into a brand new house almost four years ago and was given Whirlpool appliances with a five year warranty on them, at no cost. I've had no issues so far with any of the appliances (washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, oven, hob or extractor) at any point, touch wood. I also don't think they would be bigging up their five year warranty they included if they'd had many claims on it.
In comparison, my mother has been through four ovens in ten years (all different brands - Samsung, Indesit and a couple of white labels) and had a broken Samsung dishwasher, and took out a repair plan on a Hoover (Indesit) washing machine that hasn't been right for a period of 6 months or more since she bought it five years ago. |

LG, without question. I work for the country's largest technology retailer, in vision, computing, and MDA. Whilst Samsung TVs are our best sellers, due to the quality, and Samsung washing machines way outsell any other manufacturer, I will always recommend LG over Samsung, re white goods.
Samsung washing machines are not exploding, in the UK. Top loaders are, in Australia. |

I'm thinking if they still all work ok why replace them especially as most of them are integrated so you can't even see them.
