Is it just me or is it getting ridiculous now?

It was months ago we were told how R&R in EE would exit yet supposedly 90% of the storylines were embargoed.

We also know about Kim and Denises returning Parent.

Now a lot of this is coming from either rags trying to be be first or from "fans" wanting to find things out then share it with as many people as possible (as per the current increase in cross posting between here and WW)

Is it getting too much?

Personally, I would just be happy with the sunday spoilers and teasers of storylines rather than knowing exactly what is going to happens months before.

Another thing is announcing exits, we are now getting them a year in advance

Even Michelle's return was spoiled!

I like spoilers but only when they just give a hint of what is going to happen. I don't want to know most of what is going to happen before the episode airs.

For me, Ronnie and Roxy's exits would have been better if I had no clue how they were going to die or that they were leaving. They managed it with Belinda.

Yes, it is annoying. And selfish of the people who rush to spoil it.

When the bloody Mirror announced it, I took it with a grain of salt. Their reporting of soaps are usually dreadful. But they were right (sort of).

Really thought because of the leaks, R&R would be kept alive. They even filmed alternative endings.

You have The Scum to blame for the Mitchell Sisters spoilers, they obviously had a mole who told them everything.

Someone went as far as pretending they had emailed the bbc/eastenders and complained that it was a waste of licence payer money to film multiple endings, they then pretended that the response was that multiple filmings were not done only one. The poster then confirming they died by the the swimming pool

I mean why even bother??

It is the media outlets such as DS itself, magazines and newspapers trying to shift more copies. If it had been embargoed perhaps but....even Michelle Fowler was leaked.

I don't get people who like soap spoilers. They don't like it when people reveal to them what is going to happen in a movie so why a soap ?

Didn't someone leak that Danielle would die a few months before the episode in 2009?

To be fair to DS they tried to make out it was unknown how the sisters exited.

But even embargoed stuff is now been posted on these forums and others by users

It's been a constant battle for years between the Producers of EastEnders and Corrie and the tabloids, particularly EastEnders seems to get mauled by the tabloids with critique and spoilers.

I totally agree, I much the prefer the sunday teasers bit on Digital Spy.
What I love about DigitalSpy is that they are respectful of the soaps.

The papers are just trying to sell papers, which is understandable,
But forum users just trying to get a bit of attention, should be banned for posting embargoed spoilers. I know WW is trying to combat this, but it seems to be quite difficult to prevent, especially in high interest stories such as the exit of two long running characters.

Corrie must be getting better, when Mary left tonight I thought she was really going it was a suprise.

Then when Norris got the knock at the door I thought it was gonna be emily.

Just goes to show what not knowing does.

Agree re the banning comments

I blame DTC for even starting to give out too many spoilers. The Media are like stray cats... Feed them once and they keep coming back for more and will find any way to get the food.

WW are a solely eastenders based forum, they will get content sometimes before others, they've already said they don't allow embargoed information and are clamping down if any is posted, sometimes spoiler/speculation is shared, I post links sometimes from that site and I don't see any issue with it, I give spoiler warnings it up to the individual if they click or not.

It shamed when its spoiled but it rarely avoidable, spoilers are part a parcel of the internet.

Corrie are notorious for dropping spoilers and are way worse in spoiling episodes for fans.

Maybe the BBC need to sort out who they are allowing access to their press website.

They'll never be banned if they aren't reported. Both to DS and the soap concerned press office. Ultimately it's DS publishing forbidden content and at risk of losing spoilers altogether.
I have also seen items posted that the Press Office have stated were for info only and NOT for publication

Agreed, really annoyed with the Sun for giving away basically how they left. Why do the media want to spoil everything and do so in a lot of detail.

At least some soaps can manage to keep shocks and surprises secret.

I do like soap spoilers but not when they are leaked or in so much detail.

Corrie's press office is notoriously over zealous I feel.

Emmerdale is able to keep spoilers. Is it the location I wonder?

In a way because it was spoiled so early i expected an attempt to change it in some way which added tension. the roof was tense, as were the stairs, they got to the pool and all hope was dashed. i would have loved a twist, but it was haunting and at least they didnt tie it with the phil liver plot, that would have been ridiculous.

Yep.

This is what I think, they release so much info and pictures, that I feel I know what is going to happen, the pictures released for the xmas episode pretty much revealed most of the xmas happenings.

What made me laugh was that in EVERY article DS did in relation to Ronnie and Roxy's exit they ALWAYS wrote, "the bbc have filmed multiple endings" when we all knew this wasn't the case because they don't have the time or budget to do that.

The BBC did film alternate endings... or alternate scenes at least. The Snapchat account shows at least 5 different endings, but the issue is the aftermath. There's no way they would be able to film 2 different aftermaths let alone 5, so unless there was an alternate way for both Ronnie and Roxy to both die, that was the ending that would be shown

I don't mind mild spoilers but I do agree that some are now far too detailed.

What really annoys me now though, is the trend to announce a character is leaving months before they do. Especially if we're told in great detail what will happen (eg Kylie Platt, Roxy and Ronnie) or we find out someone's leaving and 4 months later, we still don't know when.

It's very difficult to are either way about a story that features characters we know are leaving at a set time - how much more affecting would Kylie and David's plans to join Becky abroad have been if we didn't know Kylie was going to die in the next week? Would we all have cared more about Jack's plans to move to Ongar and leave Roxy if we didn't know the Mitchell Sisters were leaving at New Year's and Jack was staying in Walford?

With characters who we know are leaving but not when, it's kind of the opposite - everything that happens to them becomes a cliff hanger - "Is this it?" - which soon stops being interesting (think The Boy Who Called Wolf).
