EE titanic theme
Firstly what a fantastic episode!!!!
Thought there was a lot of similarities to the Titanic tonight. First when Ronnie was on the roof pretending to be Rose, then we had the camera keep going to the clock, Jack lying in bed with the children reminded me of the mother singing her children to sleep while the ship was sinking. Then we had them both drowning and then the locket!! Like at the end the old lady throws her necklace into the sea. It was such a fab episode and although they were both doing my head in by the end, i actually felt really sad for them tonight. |

I must admit, I didn't get any Titanic feel bar the bit where Ronnie took the piss on the roof.

I think the visuals were similar, from the eerie glow above the water, the large flowing dress, the frantic movement and the locket falling slowly to the floor. It was very well done I must say.
At a stretch you could say the joy of the dancing/music scenes were very reminiscent of Titanic's scenes with Rose and Jack dancing at the Irish party on the lower decks before tragedy struck. The hotel was very grand as well, large staircases and beautiful rooms so while the story obviously wasn't in any way similar, the visuals did have some similarities. The fact they actually gave a nod to Titanic on the roof makes me think it was intentional. |

Thelma and Louise was also heavily referenced.

There was also a scene from Titanic with the dead young girl floating in a flowing nightdress.
Can't find a clip but there's a picture here: https://www.encyclopedia-titanica.or...ownedwoman.jpg |

Ronnie and Roxy's names both begin with "Ro" just like Rose.

I suppose there is an argument that Ronnie was the iceberg.
The driftwood was missing. But on this occasion he was in the bridal suite reading Cinderella to the kids. |
