So glad Channel 4 picked this up. Wasn't looking forward to battling with the streaming on BT the whole week!

So are the prelims best of 5 or best of 3 sets ? (not helping the tipping comp)
BDO sheet has best of 5 (but they had it wrong for the masters i recall) Wikipedia and PG game have best of 3 sets No betting sites seem to have odds for correct score |

I copied and pasted you for the first post so i got the best of 5 from that. I would say best of 3.
I reckon it could be best of 3 now (makes more sense) |

You would think the BDO would be the official source as its there comp (that's why i put down the best of 5 and it has been that before)

Why don't they just join the 2 tournaments together, the real darts champion is never from this championship anyhow, maybe if they joined up darts might get some real recognition in sport.

Because the PDC don't want a county game or a ladies game. The BDO is what it is. Its for players who don't want to be a full time pro darts player. I go and watch two football teams. One is in the Premier League and one in the National League. I thoroughly enjoy both as i love football, like i love darts. I know the standard is a distance apart, i am not stupid, but i know that both give enjoyment and pleasure. I do think darts gets recognition. Definitely. |

Surely this year they will need shorter matches or longer time slots as both C4 and BT will want breaks for adverts between every set as with Sky.
It was only the BBC who played the early round matches straight through and it was only later stages Semis and Final ? they had quite a long mid match break. |

Gutted but isn't next week the first full week ? I mean today is a Bank Holiday isn't it ? If it had started this weekend it would have started in 2016 but I feel your pain Madsocks. Hopefully you will still see plenty
![]() Now the BDO only seems to play on a standard January week every year these days. |

I always thought even the BDO played a start of their championships at the tail end of the festive period, and the end of the PDC and the start of the BDO always seemed to clash. I recall John Gwynne who did the dart radio reports for both championships hot footing it between the 2 championshops at Frimley Green and Circus Tavern.
