A belated Happy Birthday to our equine friends

Bit surprised that there are only 3 meetings today with it being a Bank Holiday

That's a bit of a farce at Plumpton

All the hurdles in the home straight dolled off due to the low sun and it's only the 1st race !

More of a flat race than a hurdle

All hurdles being jumped now. Wait until the closing handicap hurdle and more will be avoided for "low sun".

Also, slightly OT but is anyone heading to Doncaster next Monday, the 9th? I rarely go jumps racing, being a die hard flat fan, but for a tenner a ticket I couldn't pass on the opportunity!

yeah ............it's going to produce a different result if they're not jumping

of course it's impossible to say after the event what the result would have been but in my competition I was on the one who was leading (Count Meribel at 6/1), the one in yellow.........would he have won wit hurdles ? He was a couple of lengths up and it would have been harder for them to catch him they had to jump hurdles

Meanwhile over at Southwell the two and half million dollar yearling was running off 60 in a handicap. Treaty of Rome used to be with Aidan O'Brien...... he ran 3 times without troubling the judge and was subsequently sold for 3000 gns which I reckon represents a loss of nearly two and half million dollars for 'the lads' !

He ran for his new connections a week or so ago in a Southwell maiden and finished 4th. Today he was leading with 50 yards to go but got ran out of it and finished 2nd

Never mind two and a half million dollars, 3000 guineas is looking like a waste of money !

Speaking of Ballydoyle - Aidan now trains Wesley Ward's three mile chaser (I jest...) Acapulco.

Ascot's Commonwealth Cup is the target.
