I'm surprised at that.

That's a shame as it was a very good episode, but the show has been dreadful in the lead-up to it, so I'm not surprised.

Tonight may end up being higher for the fall out.

Horrible rating, but before anyone says it nothing can be read into it re disappointment over the sisters dying. No one knew for sure what was going to happen before watching.

Plus, everything on BBC One has been down this festive season anyway.

Corrie could have 30 mins of Leanne playing with herself and it would still win. I don't get it? Is their viewer base loyal and their episode was crap.

EE tries and tries and no joy at all

Then so should Corrie, which had the same share and a similar rating...

Why would people want to tune in to watch two iconic characters killed off in such a terrible manner, I wish I hadn't bothered to watch.

I have not watch the show in a few years now and it was so contrived and awful I can see why the ratings are so awful.

I won't be watching tonight because if it can not kill off two characters in a more fitting way then it really has lost its way.

Is that Corrie figure including +1?

I had a strange feeling yesterday that Corrie would get a bounce and get a bigger rating than EE but then the DS website crashed, it was all over Twitter so I changed my mind.

It will timeshift to circa 7.5-8million surely?

Agreed, how dare it only get that rating and beaten by the old fart soap, the swines.

What's worse is that there's no reason for anyone but the committed viewer to come back.

I for one was expecting this week to be all about the fall-out from the incident that led to them dying. Would X get away with it? Where would X hide the bodies? Is there CCTV footage? How will he keep what he did from Y? Will lies and deception tear him apart? WIll it all climax in a big Easter Day episode?

I can't see many people who don't usually watch tuning in to see the family take the hotel to task as to why the door to the pool room wasn't sufficiently secured. As other than some crying that's pretty much the only legacy this storyline is going to possibly have.

That style is more in keeping with DTC's style or Bryan Kirkwood not SOC. He doesn't seem to like secrets and lies.

On the upside, less ppl having watched means more chance of a new producer bringing them back alive

Same 2-3 complaining on here who were complaining last. If BT through and after the episode. Haters gonna hate.

Your final comment is pretty valid. BBC One in general has struggled this festive season - not just the soap.

End. Of. The. World.

Still moaning about it over twelve hours later? Lighten up... so it wasn't your cup of tea; do you need to keep repeating "how awful" it is over various threads?

Surprised Corrie beat EE. Corrie was pretty much just a normal episode with EE heavily promoted and the amount of press it is had. Not even sure EE was up against anything that big? Saying that EE has been quite awful in it's build up so maybe people just didn't care enough to tune in "live". Also another new year with Ronnie getting married.
