This is feeling as bad as dead baby swap! EE

I know that there are multiple threads on this but we need a good old poll!

I have only felt real anger at one other story - The dead baby swap! Until yesterday and I am actually as equally annoyed at what SOC has done to Ronnie and Roxy!

Between DTC and SOC they have almost obliterated The Mitchell's!

They didn't deserve an ending like that.

A week or so ago I thought that Ronnie had become very tired and overrated and needed to go.

This morning I'm feeling a bit different.

I guess you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.

I'm more sad that Roxy has gone now.

Absolutely the right exit for both characters.

Have given my reasons on many other threads

Although I was hoping Roxy survived it did seem fitting that they went together.

Ronnie was always my favourite, along with Shirley, so i am very sad that R&R have been killed off.
Roxy was just starting to annoy me slightly with the constant drugs/clean/drugs/drink/clean ongoing saga, but i know she was popular.

I've not watched Eastenders regularly for years, but I've seen the exit on YouTube and it seemed very unceremonious.

I never gave two hoots about Roxy, but to kill her off by hitting her head at the bottom of a swimming pool is a joke. Ronnie's death was in character but she's been the most noteworthy female character in her tenure alongside Stacey Branning, she deserved something much bigger. I feel bad for the actresses.

I think it was a mistake killing them off together. They were such long-established characters in their own right that killing them off together downplayed that.

Why I would of like to see a different outcome, I will get over it, so will others.

I would be more gutted if Stacey or Kat got killed off thoses two have had a bigger impact on me then R&R.

They were both tired characters who have been going round in circles for years.

I dont have an issue with them killing them off so much HOW they have killed off in some joke of a quick axing. They are not small time axing type storyline. With ronnie tgey had so much scope for realistic tragic, exit storylines...jail, terminal illness losing control, dean/ carls family revenge, breakdown over dean saga etc....

Which was a wrong move on Santer, but they've been able to move her from that, thank god.

No. They could have both come back in 10 years or so with a new lease of life.

This is nothing like the dead baby swap. That storyline was a tastelessly sensationalist exploitation of cot death. The depiction of Roxy's tragic downward spiral, however, has been handled much more responsibly.

I liked the ending but I'm gonna miss them too, so I'm torn

it was right to kill off Roxie, she is always messing things up for Ronnie, but they should have let Ronnie live and go off happily with Jack and the kids to their new home.

Agreed, I'd be really pissed off if that ever happened.

The episode was directed and filmed brilliantly but I feel like the character's should have been rested rather than killed off.

Where else could Ronnie have possibly gone from here? She killed two people and stole a baby. The character was a walking car crash just begging to be put out of her misery. And Roxy has been a glorified extra since about 2008.

I'm sure people will get over it.

I think it was right to kill them off if I'm honest. There isn't much left for them and it was right they left with a bang.

People say that they now wish they weren't gone after having them killed off, it's best to keep it this way imo. If they were still on, you would still think they were stale characters. If they had a non-death exit with the door open to return, they wouldn't be as loved as they are now. That's why I think it was best to have them killed off, and now new, fresh doors are able to open.

As for comparing it to the baby swap, I couldn't disagree more. That storyline itself was just insulting and unreal. I would probably compare this more to Danielle's death really (to a lesser extent), since loads of people were angry at her being killed off.

Huge mistake to kill them both.

Should have just rested them, have them return a couple of times a year, and then considered the possibility of making them return more permanent.

I liked it, but I will miss them and thought it was also a bit pointless killing them off.

Roxy's death was understandable, due to her downward spiral over the past year, but killing off both was just a waste. Ronnie is along with Max and Stacey, the biggest character of the decade. She is up there with Melanie Owen and Cindy Beale. Sam Womack could quite easily have returned in the future. Having now lost the sisters and Peggy, the Mitchell family is continuing to decrease. Not good when the Branning's, Beale's and Carter's are small in numbers, compared to previous years.

They are building up The Fowler's again, but I don't really see them as the Fowler's, as both Martin and Michelle have been recast. It is like watching a new family.
