The Connors V Barlows seems like a blackburn story
A random feud that came out of nowhere and has terrible writing with a bloke who thinks hris smart and will inevitably lose. She said stick to better storylines ![]() |

It's not really that sort of situation anymore, the world itself has changed, back in the 60s-Early 2000s, people had quite a limited choice of TV, Sky took some of Corrie's viewers, but now the internet is everywhere, no one will sit down to watch an episode of Corrie unless it is interesting, the drama always has to be at the forefront now, to entice viewers into watching, more and more people are moving to on demand TV now, and you can't really blame them for not wanting to be a slave to the television schedules anymore. Just look at the ratings for Coronation Street in 2007 (and the show wasnt even at its best then), you'd regularly see the show hitting 9-10m, these days it can only manage 6-7m on most days. Back in the 60s-90s people had no real choice for TV, so they watched what was on. Now, if a soap has a bad period, people think "why am I watching this when I could be watching Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead ect.". Corrie has had to change, it is unavoidable, and it is irreversable, Corrie, if it wishes to survive, will continue on evolving, perhaps one day it will even be a fully online TV show.

whoever was in charge of the show from 2013 up til maybe 2016 is better. i dunno the producers, writers and directors names, and don't care. i can't understand how so many ppl on here do know what the producers, writers and directors are called!
Corrie was amazing in 2013, ok in 2014, pretty good in 2015 but for the past few months it's been hit and miss for me |

I actually watched ED until the last 6 months of Oates reign. I hated the sensational storylines and affairs. When I found out she was taking over CS I hoped that she wouldn't revert to type.
So far its been a mixed bag for me. I'm happy with about 60% of the storylines but then a lot of it hasn't been good. In fact when its bad its unwatchable. Fortunately it only seems to be bad once or twice a month but I think things are picking up now and hopefully this year it will improve hugely. |

I prefer KO over Blackburn. There are noticeable differences in characterisation etc since she took over, and the majority of the cast are being used a bit more than they ever were under SB.
However, I do think both of them have suffered being under Kieran Roberts, hence why the storytelling/writing is consistently poor irrespective of who the Producer is. |
