Very true. My number one rule when ranting about spelling is to ensure that both of the S's are present in 'misspelled'.

And to broaden the appeal of this thread, I would claim that S's is correct but that CD's is wrong - it should be CDs.
The first one is definitely wrong, although I'd get round it by saying 'both instances of the letter S'.

In theory you might try to make a valid argument for CD's, but that soon falls down because it would then have to be C'D's

As long as the message is easily understandable then what's the big problem?
The words 'as long as'; begging the question somewhat!

C.D.'s surely?

I dont think it's any worse than ever we just get to see so much more of it.
I would of defiantly said its nothing knew.
Indeed. Before the advent of the internet, how many informal written communications did we get from other people?

I take it you don't have one then?
I thought it might be wrong. We all make the odd mistake but my post was understood.

I turned my checker off cos it annoys me

You thought it might be wrong but didn't bother to check it ... in a post about the standards of written English?

You asked a question without using a question mark, you misspelled 'coherent', you put two spaces after the word 'English' (seems like the forum corrected that). So yes, it does indeed seem that education standards are falling. Also, what is your point about being wealthy?

And I make no claims to be a master of English, there is probably some errorz in what I just posted.
Oh, I definitely am no master as demonstrated. What does annoy me is people looking down on others thinking they are better, when in actual fact they look stupid and poorly educated.

I make spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes all the time, it is just a forum after all but I was just asking a simple question. Surely, when trying to educate the stupid and poor you should come across in a better educated way was my point. I truly am not trying to educate anyone was just having a laugh

Has it never occurred to you that it "annoys" you because you actually fit into the category of people you were berating in your opening post?

This is one of the biggest LOL threads I've read for a long time
The OP post, serious lol and I bet you that the poster will now try and play along with its mistakes and pretend they were done on purpose - a seriously embarrassing and pointless thread IMO

Can we safely assume that the OP will ask DS to have its own thread removed!

HNY

You don't actually read your own threads then?

Why would I ask for it to be removed?

One spelling mistake and a few grammar mishaps still makes it more readable than a fair few posts I have seen today

Happy New Year

No, your opening post was quite clearly having a go at those who can't write "coherrant (sic) English". Nothing about education of the poor and stupid.

On a similar subject, I feel that the standard of mathematics is poor these days.

I've calculated that 56% of people have a good grasp of basic maths and 48% of people don't.

I'm sorry, but that's a very ignorant comment to make. Just because some people don't have a lot of money, it doesn't mean that they're uneducated.

No it really wasn't. It's quite obviously aimed at a certain troll poster on here who sneers at those who are not as wealthy and educated as she is but can't string a coherent sentence together
A lot on here are missing the joke

Quite.

... and a lot of wealthy people are phenomenally stupid.

Like the one on here where it autocorrected 'surrogate' to Mrs for example?

I wasn't berating or having a go at anyone. Just trying to have a bit of fun and get a thread going. Think I shall stick to soaps

I know and I absolutely agree with you. It is something that has been posted through a number of threads in the forum in the last few days. I was having a laugh I failed and lesson learnt!

Perhaps "a lot on here" don't spend every waking hour on the forums so aren't in a position to get the, ahem, "joke" and therefore can only judge the thread on a standalone basis.
